Classic Prosofts are very nice gloves for sure. Not sure how long it will hold up though. Probably a good couple years if treated right.

I never condition my gloves with anything other than this.

Get gift certificate to Red Stick Sports, or store near you, and tell him it is for a glove. Kevin at Red Stick will help him out. A glove is a feel thing...all these manufacturers are good. Sizes vary by position and preference, etc. My kids used Mizuno and Rawlings. The pros have custom-made gloves...not off-the-shelf.

I'll back the Nokona haters in this thread. My brother bought one of those and it lasted him about a year in high school. I bought a Wilson A3000 back in 2004 and it lasted me about 9 years. I just bought one of the Rawlings Heart of the Hide gloves about a month ago, so we'll see how this one does. My friend has had one for a long time and loves it.

Not really. It won't soak into the leather.

Back when I posted on the first page, I was just speaking from my personal experience with Nokona. I used mine for four years in high school and have even used it in softball at 3b since. I graduated high school over a decade ago and it's still in great shape today. I love that glove. I have no way to compare it to the A2000 or a Rawlings because I didn't use either of those.

Thanks for the suggestions!

So far i'm leaning towards Rawlings or a a2000 !

Any other tips?

Can't go wrong with either glove, man. A2000's are cheaper though. Both will have long periods of break in time and never subject the glove to heat, microwave (Can't believe I have to mention that)or oven, or steam. Best break in method is playing catch.

I love the Louisville Slugger / TPX gloves. My son isn't in HS but his TPX is amazing.
