All great gloves listed ITT, but I would suggest giving your son some options that fit your price range. Let him try them on and see which he likes best. I've had everything from Nokona, Wilson A2000's, Rawlings Heart of the Hide, Mizuno, Salinas, Zett, etc. and I couldn't tell you which one was my favorite. Gloves are like cowboy boots, each one is going to be different.

Rawlings Heart of the Hide PRO200-6 from Don Morton Sports. Google Don Morton Sports and you'll find it (ballgloves.com under exclusives). They are exclusive to that website and are made with leather that is higher quality than normal HOH gloves. You're basically getting a Pro Preferred quality glove for HOH price.

I've bought several different gloves over the years for my son and he loves his Shoeless Joe gloves more than any other he's ever had. He has the 1st base mitt and a pitchers glove. They are high quality and look and feel great. Only drawback is they do not have much padding on the inside.

A2000 shits on Nokona. You'll go through 4-5 Nokonas before that A2000 is even close to being worn out.

FIFY

And I owned one Nokona when I was 13 and hated it. Heavy as hell and the flexibility of a dish rag. I only played with it because it's what my dad got me. I've had A2000 slabs and Heart of the hide IF gloves since and they make Nokona look like Fisher Price.

Pro Preferred is the best glove IMHO. Now if you don't want to shell out $300 I can certainly understand that.

Only acceptable answer. For a 3rd baseman get at least an 11-3/4 glove

I would go Rawlings then tie between Wilson and Mizuno. Had a mizuno OF glove that was great, but nothing has held up like HOH

This times infinity. Can't go wrong with A2000, no matter if it's infield, first base, pitcher, or outfield.

The only exception is the catcher's mitts. The original was designed for Pudge Rodriguez, who cared most about getting the ball out fast to throw. So they tend to be smaller, which could be fine, depending on what you like.

A1000 is a great glove at a great price. Just under $100. Basically the same glove as the 2000, just different leather.

I had a Sweet A2000 that was school colors from Freshman year until Mid-Way Senior year when it ripped. Most likely from being thrown into the fence when my SS let an easy ball through his legs.

After that I bought a Mizuno and I loved it. Got my A2000 fixed and still use both.

But my 1st base mitt was a Rawlings HOH and it was my baby

Does Rawlings still have a heart of the Hyde collection? Had one of those in high school. That was a smooth glove.

a2000. Best for the price. Still not cheap, but just as good as the better Rawlings. Mizuno's not a bad glove, but stay in the Pro section.

That's the only differences in any glove, and they are substantial differences.

a2000 is my personal choice of the more expensive gloves... though I think the difference in quality between a 100 and 300 dollar glove are pretty overrated.

If he's playing IF get an I web. Dirt falls out when you to have scoop balls off the dirt. You can also see through the webbing to catch flyballs. When you using your glove to block the sun.

Don't look past the the Easton PPK line. They have some great leather.
I'm partial to Mizuno, my sin got this one for Christmas, he also plays 3rd base. This one was $140.
