the contact by the bama CB is before the clemson WR even has time to initiate the pick

this is actually a good no call by the refs, wouldnt be suprised if Bama told the corners to grab em before the play to force OT because it wouldve actually been a good decision

I was actually surprised Bama didn't do this... But now looking at it you could be right. It was the plan but Renfrow was just too quick and the rub prevented them from executing

I felt the 2nd one was less egregious.

That first pick play earlier in the game, the Clemson receiver had the perfect offensive lineman blocking form

the first one was definitely a pick, cant believe it wasnt called.

the wr actually got to the spot first, but instead of acting like the pass was intended for him he just gave the bama corner a shoulder check like they were playin playoff hockey

Yeah the refs usually throw the flag when it's really blatant, which I felt the first td was.

The second one not as much, because the wr was falling to the ground. This still shot provides a good explanation why he was falling.

I'm pretty sure he was half arse chop blocking but made it look like a fall, but what can you do?

The DB pulled the outside WR to the ground on the last TD.

Is legal. It's legal for the DB to hit the WR within 5 yards of the LOS

Right, but it also means, that since the DB initiated the contact, it's not an illegal pick.

I don't believe that's a college rule

If that's the case, then this play must be illegal too then. LINK

Sure.

But if you watch the route the DB that was guarding Renfrow took, it's not even close to a pick play. He goes all the way around and behind the other DB/WR and was yards away from the Clemson WR.

Didn't Alabama beat LSU on this same play two years ago? Don't want to hear about a pick

I think it is legal anywhere on the field as long as the ball isn't in the air. There's no 5 yard window.

he did a good job selling a route at least. It was a really physical game and the refs kept the flag in their pocket all night.

As somebody that's still salty about Patrick Peterson being ruled out of bounds, watching Alabama get monumentally fricked gave me a hard-on.

Why?

Alabama got fricked by those refs hard. And it was pretty obvious to anyone that doesn't have an explicit anti bama bias. You're just being a chunt for the sake of being a chunt
