correct

football is more complex and involves a lot more strategy, the players' roles are very inhibited and basketball is more cerebral in play

Rex is correct. One must sit and think really hard and ask themselves, "why the frick am I watching basketball?"

Very cerebral.

One is a turn-based strategy game, while the other is a real-time strategy game.

I don't think most people in this thread understood it. They're also the ones knighting for football...

could be worse

people could be trying to argue for baseball (which is laughable in terms of strategy or cerebral requirements)

What's amazing is how offended people can be by an opinion of something they didn't even create. Same affect with movies.

Though I love both, I prefer football to basketball. "Cerebral" is not the same as "enjoyable".

I don't know. there is quite a bit of thought required to play defense in certain positions, and you're skimping the center on his props for being cerebral.

football certainly has more "meat" in it than basketball but it also has more players.

its very different, I'm not sure you can even compare it like you are. they require different types of thought. football requires more planning and recognition while basketball requires more reaction and "flow"

Alas I'll admit I didn't fully read the post, I guess a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often.

But I DID declare a "final analysis", so in a bit of basketball lingo you're "out of bounds".

No one ever wonders if someone if some young basketball stud is smart enough to pickup the NBA game.

That seems to be a common concern for NFL hopefuls in the draft.

NFL Quarterback is arguably the hardest position in professional sports from a mental standpoint, and football is more strategic.

Basketball as a whole being more cerebral, sure

everything in football is so rehearsed... you really can't rehearse basketball and soccer action
