Why did Bonds never get rushed/benches cleared when he stood there and watched them?

Because they all were in awe of it, and trying to see were the hell the ball landed

He hit a ball in the World Series that year so far, you couldn't even see where it landed.

Griffey was absolutely "a bigger deal" than Bonds was in the 90s.

In terms of what? Marketability? I'm talking about what actually happened on the field, not whether or not a 12 year old was more likely to copy Griffey than Bonds. By 1993 Bonds was already a three-time MVP...there wasn't a baseball discussion occurring at any point where Griffey was a "bigger deal".

I now await some advanced baseball metrics as to why bonds was better

Yeah, who needs an actual objective analysis when you can rely upon a 20 year old memory of what the climate was surrounding MLB.

I would be very surprised if I found out that Griffey was on steroids. Griffey was the best all around player if that era without a doubt.

I watched that replay like 10 times. My god that swing is absolutely beautiful.

don't know how else to interpret "barry bonds is the GOAT baseball player" unless grestest of all time doesn't mean greatest of all time.

Given you framed the argument it is astonishing you can't follow it.

You stated: people act like he was bigger than guys like Ruth before he began to use PEDs

No one claims that. They claim he would have been a HOFer without them, they don't claim he would have been on the short list of greatest of all-time.

Makes him the only retired player in history to be the closer for a World Series champion.

All I know is when I was a kid in early mid 90s I couldn't get shite for a Bonds card but Griffey would fetch big amounts (for kids).

A $20 card would blow your mind at 8-9 yrs old.

I still have my 1989 UD Griffey rookie I pulled from a pack when it was the most desirable card in the hobby. Great memories back then.

Then wtf are we even talking about? Is he or isn't he the GOAT?

I'll just go ahead and say it...it's amazing to see these great baseball moments and not a ton of cellphone watchers behind the plate and in the stands.

Griffey had more silver sluggers, more gold gloves and more All-Stars before Barry juiced...and Griffy arrived 4 years later than Bonds.

And he wasn't a total dick like Bonds.

Where's Bond's Nintendo game?

Griffey was more popular, a fan favorite and the better natursl all-around player in the 90s.

Sid Bream loves him some Barry Bonds.

That's what I mean by bigger deal.

Granted Bonds went supernova in 2000s but we all know why.
