Steroids should be allowed. At least it would make baseball watchable again.

Steroids should be allowed, and Barry was tGOAT baseball player. The only other person that worked as hard at their craft was Ted Williams. He just didn't have the talent BB had.

No one was mentioning BB as THE best player ever until he started juicing at the end of his career. Yes he was a generational talent but people act like he was bigger than guys like Ruth before he began to use PEDs. That's just not the case. Yes he was HOF material with or without PEDs but people really need to pump the brakes with him

Bonds was a 25-40 HR hitter...with a 290 BA average before the juice.

But I guess no one uses that anymore.

He was multi-talented but there is do much revisionist history on this board because of WAR and slugging.

But none of that was talked about back then. I think you have kids who were in diapers in the early 90s going on about Bonds as GOAT as if they knew anything back then.

It's not about whether he is GOAT now...but what was talked about back then. And Griffey was the bigger deal.

Griffey was absolutely "a bigger deal" than Bonds was in the 90s. So were Sosa and McGwire. All of that is a big reason he started juicing in the first place.

I now await some advanced baseball metrics as to why bonds was better

I don't know how else to interpret "barry bonds is the GOAT baseball player" unless grestest of all time doesn't mean greatest of all time. i mean damn, in the very same post he said Ted Williams just wasn't as talented, Ted Williams who had 521 career homeruns and a career .344 average. Ted Williams, who missed 3 years in his prime to fight in WW2

And then there were guys who didn't have to juice, could hit'em out of Yankee Stadium while batting from the right side, and bring Yankee fans to their feet applauding for an opposing player.

All I know is when I was a kid in early mid 90s I couldn't get shite for a Bonds card but Griffey would fetch big amounts (for kids).

A $20 card would blow your mind at 8-9 yrs old.

Of course Griffey was. I was young, but he was my biggest idol of any athlete in my younger days.. and I had no connections to the Mariners or even cared about them.

I just wanted to be like him. Had his cards, a Mariners hat to wear backwards.. and again I was a massive Braves fan. Bonds did have several 40+ homer seasons in the 90s though. Griffey had two straight seasons of 56 homers in the 90's.

I was just thinking about how awesome a Griffey card was back then.

Why did Bonds never get rushed/benches cleared when he stood there and watched them?
