The Raiders announced they are spending up to $40 million to build a new training facility Oakland(Alameda)

quote:

It's not a long-term lease and it's not a new stadium, but it could signal the Oakland Raiders' desire to stay put in the East Bay. The Raiders, stuck in a one-year lease with the Oakland Coliseum and embroiled in relocation rumors, have decided to invest millions of dollars in a new training facility.

That facility will be located at team headquarters in Alameda, which begs the question: If you were planning on moving your business to another location in the coming years, why would you invest millions in your current location?

The answer to that question bodes well for those who hope to see the Raiders remain in Oakland.

"These guys are businessmen," Chris Dobbins, an Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority board member, told KPIX 5. "I can't see why anybody would invest this kind of money for a short term."

"It's a sign of confidence in Oakland," Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf told KPIX 5. "It's a sign that they want to stay here where they have an adoring fan base."

Why's that bad news? Can't St. Louis and San Diego both go together?

When is it actually going to be built? Ground breaking? Just because permits sought and plans developed doesn't mean that its going to be built. Could be something "in case" they stay in Oakland.

Case in point, Carson stadium plans and Inglewood plans. Both will not be built.

The NFL won't make it here in LA.
People just don't care that much.

Sure the first few seasons will sell out every game. But after that if there is not a Super Bowl contender people won't show up.

How many times does it have to fail here before the NFL stops trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

It sucks when teams move around. It is sh*tty for the fans and it is one of the reasons why I am more emotionally invested in college sports than pro.

LA should have a team, and the Rams obviously have a ton of history in LA since they were there for 50 years, but they also have a lot of history in St. Louis including a Superbowl win and another appearance. So while it makes some sense for them to be the team that moves to LA , I'll feel bad for St. Louis Rams fans if it happens. They should have changed the name when they moved to St. Louis.

Because I'm sure their fans would like their teams to remain in St. Louis & San Diego and not move to another city.

As long as they start breaking ground on New Stadium in St.Louis, Some one(out of 3 teams) will be playing in St.Louis.

And That means very little for Raiders not leaving. They want a stadium, not a practice facility.

The Raiders are such a dysfunctional shitty franchise I could see them building a state of the art practice facility and then moving anyways

When will people learn that the NFL only uses the LA situation to fleece cities and fans into giving them what they want -- favorable leases, land deals, taxpayer funded stadiums, etc.? L.A. being open is more valuable to the NFL franchises than it is being occupied. They have been doing this for over a decade now.

The Bolts stay in SD, the Raiders stay in Oakland, the Rams move to L.A., and the Jags move to SL.

This is what will ultimately happen.

Mark Davis looks like he could be Jon Gruden's retarded older brother. Why does a multi millionaire. Have a haircut like that?

Agree, the dude looks funny with the hair.

I kind of feel sorry for him in a way. Supposedly his dad was really rough with him, such as humiliating and ridiculing him in front of others. That could not have been good for him.

Maybe he just feels battered.
