Atlanta Hawks finalizing sale to Antony Reesler

Ressler’s group will purchase the team from majority owner Bruce Levenson for a figure somewhere between $700-plus million and $900 million, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Former NBA All-Star Grant Hill and Atlanta entrepreneur Jesse Itzler will be investors in the group, sources said.
The new ownership group, which will need to be approved by the NBA’s Board of Governors, is planning to retain Hawks CEO Steve Koonin and keep him in charge of the organization’s day-to-day business.

The Hawks have had a great season on the court (how good will obviously depend on playoff success). It will be interesting to see if that plus the new ownership group can create more buzz around the franchise and increase its visibility.

I dunno. He came from money, he made a fortune as a pro and he strikes me as being the kind of guy who wouldn't piss it away (he's been married to the same woman for nearly 16 years)

I didn't mean to insinuate he's broke or anything. He's a great guy, got to hang out with him for a couple months. Just wondering what type of contribution a guy worth 30 million can make when billionaires are buying 800 million dollar franchises.

Exactly. Grant Hill is loaded and a smart guy, but he is not serious portion of a team loaded. Maybe it is a very small stake because even 5% would be $42.5 million.

I was wondering if they do that to give them some respectable, famous faces...? He might not own much of the team but would represent for them well. Like Magic and the Dodgers. Doesn't he own a very small percentage of the team?
