@DOBrienATL

In their past 29 games, the #Braves are 25-4 and have slashed .309/.371/.577 (.948 OPS) with 72 homers, 195 RBIs and 7.0 runs scored per game. That is absurd. They have a 3.56 ERA in that 29-game stretch and have out-homered teams 72-39 and outscored them 203-113.

DOB-

The surging #Braves got more good news: Lefty Max Fried will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett in a 1:05 p.m. game against Omaha at Gwinnett. Last year's NL Cy Young runner-up has been on the IL since May 9 with a forearm strain.

With no Braves game on tonight I was watching the Indians, who are in a rain delay. While the Braves were in Cleveland their ‘sideline reporter’ Andre Knott interviewed Ron Washington. They played that interview during the rain delay, and damn it was awesome. It was just shy of 15 minutes and he covered a lot about baseball.

They went over the 1988 Indians, with Wash and Francona on that team. He dove into his view of the game, how he shares information that he received from when he was a kid just starting out in baseball.

He covered how he prepares the Braves infield mentally and physically, with an emphasis on work ethic. He covered his infield drills, how he invented it, and how he takes joy in seeing others using it across baseball. He went over how there has to be consistency in all things.

They covered the handshakes during the home run trot, and how the Phillies broadcasters were just mad they were getting their butts kicked when they complained.

He said he always wanted to be a 3rd base coach, and how it was his dream, but how he thought the best thing ever was to be a manager. If he can’t be a manager then the next best thing is a 3rd base coach who coaches the infield.

He told how he was taught in KC, and how they drilled fundamentals through classroom work. He knew what to do by learning in the classroom in the morning and they would take that to the field in the afternoon. He said the players keep him vibrant, and he keeps them vibrant as well.

I don’t know how to find that online to share, but he is something else to listen to. I could listen to him talk about baseball all day.

Going to watch them in Tampa on Sunday. My first Braves game in about 10 years. Then, I’m making my first trip to Truist against the D-backs the week after. I’m stoked.

The last time that I had tickets to a Braves game, I thought Ronnie was going to make his MLB debut at Wrigley. That was obviously pushed back off of that miserable road trip. The game was sleeted out after the bullpen melted down in freezing rain the day before. I was in Chicago for work and had to sell my ticket to the makeup game in August.

The only PLAYER in the NL with a higher OPS this season than the Braves as a TEAM during this stretch is Ronald Acuna (1.008) - unless you count fellow Brave Sean Murphy (.977) who is a little shy of the required at bats .

So the Braves lineup 1-9 has been better than having say (random example) 9 Freddie Freemans in the order for a month.

680-

In a 27-game stretch that began June 2, the Braves batted over .300 as a team. They averaged 2.5 homers and seven runs per game. Their team slugging percentage was .577.

I admittedly have not kept up much with the Rays. Just have always known over the last several years that while having a low payroll, they are always contenders. Also knew they struggled to draw fans. When looking through box scores on ESPN, it lists their max capacity at just over 25,000. Has it always been that small or did they tarp off large sections? And they aren’t even selling that out.

I think Tampa still tarps sections in the upper deck during the regular season. I read something a couple of months ago that they were opening some sections for a series with the Yankees. They started so well.
