There are 80 berths available and only 75 filled. Only three more teams - South Alabama, Kansas State and Georgia State - can win to get to 6-6 next week.

Georgia State @ Georgia Southern
Appalachian State @ South Alabama
West Virginia @ Kansas State

So at least two, but as many as five.

If they genuinely do use the APR rankings, then Nebraska and Missouri would be the first two available teams at 5-7. K-State could get there with a win, but even losing they would be third on the list at 5-7. San Jose State is there as well if it gets that deep.

College football is so awesome.

To be fair, Nebraska is by far the best 5-7 nationally. They had two really fluky losses.

Yea I agree, but 5-7 with no bowl and 5-7 with a chance at sixth win is difference between dumpster fire and mediocre season.

You could realistically be looking at 5 teams. Georgia Southern and App State will be big favorites. K-State should at least give WVU a game.

So stupid. If a 5-7 team accepts a bowl invite they should be embarrassed

the most important part of bowl season for non-title teams is the extra practice

Mizzou vs Nebraska would be a great toilet bowl

If we get a bid, we are taking it. Practices/money are way too valuable to pass up.

You think AD will trump Pinkle this time?

It just seemed they were done after yesterday.

Yes. They've already made it pretty apparent they would accept a bid.

For reference, these would be the eligible teams (in order) based on 2014 APR if indeed this is the only criterion for selection:

Ranking is among FBS schools

7. Nebraska
23t. Missouri
23t. Kansas State - could qualify at 6-6
25t. Minnesota
25t. San Jose State
-------------------------------------------------
31t. Illinois
31t. Rice

Thats all they talked about Rutgers Nebraska game. If Ru wins and is 5?and 7 with a high APR it's bowl time. Choked away a 21 point lead no bowl and goodbye Flood

So with everything done, congrats to Nebraska, Minnesota and San Jose State for sucking yet getting into a bowl game.

Missouri early in the week declined a potential bid.

It would be better to invite FCS teams that are out of the playoffs.

Dumb, IMHO. If the game is being offered, play it. You've got a new coach, let him gain the extra practice to start figuring out what he'll want to do with the team in the future.

Now I agree a lot of bowl games need to go, but if they're being offered, I don't see why you would reject it.
