Man, he looks so old and out of place in that lineup

I hope Baez got ripped a new one. Even the put out he did make, was lazily thrown.

Russell is day to day with hamstring tightness in his left hamstring.
quote:

For his part, Russell indicated that he felt better after getting some rest and ice treatment, and maybe even felt like he could have stayed in the game. It sounds like he just didn’t want to put the Cubs in a bad spot if he was out there in an important position and wasn’t at his best.

Just need Hammel to make it 5 innings

Travis Wood and Clayton Richard both only threw a handful of pitches. Fernando Rodney and Justin Grimm haven't thrown at all

If the bats are as hot as they were last night were going to the NLCS

Also if Russell has to miss some time Castro at SS and Baez at 2B is a certainty right?

I could see it being lastella at 2b. Fortunately I don't think russell will miss much, if any, time.

Have you paid attention to how all our other pitchers have pitched? We don't have a choice

Losing Cmart has hurt us badly, not trying to make excuses though, injuries are part of it and everyone has to deal with them

According to what the announcers said last night, Maddon has been adamant that Castro will stay at 2B. They seem to think it would be Baez at SS, which is strange to me

It's not that strange really. Dude was a ball of nerves last night and should be over it now. Normally he's an outstanding defender...main reason why he's on the post season roster.

Wind is going to be blowing in today, so I think that will actually help us. Just need the guys in the field to make plays. Going to be blowing a little left to right, so once again good for our lefties.

I would play LaStella at 2B and Castro at SS, but I'm not too worried about it. I wouldn't doubt if Russell plays.

Baez and Castro aren't giving me the warm fuzzies on the defensive side of the ball right now.

I think I like this too. Hammel might be able to get away with some pitches up in the zone, and I don't think we'll get too many hard hit potential HRs against Lackey.

As for the Castro at SS talk, don't y'all think he'd have moved over there last night when Russell went out if that was a possibility? If Russell is out, I think it'll be Baez at SS, unless Maddonn really likes La Stella today against Lackey.

He had one ball pop out of his glove that he still made the play on. Is this just based on his, admittedly, spotty history?

Well normally it wouldn't be suggested as it's hard to argue that 'on paper' baez is the better defensive option...but then we saw the play...and throws.

Sure, nerves, rust etc. can explain all that away, but i think it's worth discussing.

He had a couple missed (or shaky) plays in earlier games as well. I can't remember if it was game 1 or 2.

Eh i'll just have to trust you on that. His defense right now doesn't worry me. I don't recall him missing any plays.

The only play of his that really sticks out to me was his rather heads up play on the ball that kicked off rizzo's glove where castro recovered and got the out.

But as toula pointed out earlier in the year, i suffer from castrotardedness.
