It's mind blowing that West, Bucknor, and Angel are always at the top of the yearly player poll for worst umpire and those frickers still have a job. It must be damn near impossible to get fired unless you get caught fixing games.

Hernandez is the worst umpire and has been for a while. Same with Jerry Crawford in the NBA. When they realize that the fans aren't there to see them, they will fix it. I don't know how you can look at that play and not rule it a HR. If fact you think Angel could have heard it hit the bar if he would have run out a little like he should have. It starts with suspending these guys. It's horrible.

I disagree, still think Bucknor is by far the worst

ETA but probably the craziest umpiring thing that has ever happened was when Hernandez ejected Steve McMichael from the booth before singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game at Wrigley

He hasn't been around the Reds much so I can't argue that with you.

ETA:Is he the clueless black umpire?

Bucknor has the worst strike zone I have ever seen. And Joe West is a pompous arse.

How does the whole crew go back there and look at the replay and say its not a home run? I wonder if the other umps looked at angel like he was retarded when he said it wasn't 100% clear. Everybody in the world can see it hit the railing. MLB can't even get replay right.

Only thing is you don't know if they have him a zoomed in replay

They should have considering the TV obviously found it but who knows if they did

Would not be surprised if a multi billion dollar industry had cheap arse Emerson 5 inch tvs for replay.

The umps did the same thing this year to Justin Upton on the home run he hit against the Nationals that was a home run that they called it a double.

Joe West and Jim Joyce were both selected to work in the World Series last year.

There are some other bad umpires...Hahn, Wegner, Meals, Danley...who at times don't know what a strike zone is.

Angel Hernandez has to be one of the worst umpires in the game, and this just cements that.
It seems like year after year Angel Hernandez is behind some of the worst umpiring in the game. Bob Melvin (is that the A's manager?) was right, how in the world did they not see what everyone else in the world saw?

Tribe broadcaster Tom Hamilton summed it up well: "And even with replay, Angel Hernandez got it wrong. And that's really not a surprise."

Tribe fan thru and thru, but that was a terrible call. I didnt want to win the game like that. I cannot fathom what the Umps were looking at.....what replay did they see? Black eye instant replay in baseball

If Alabama was in the field, Mike Slive and Rodgers Redding would have already issued a statement in support of the ruling.

I wonder if Angel Hernandez and Sam Holbrook have the same Vegas contacts as Pete Rose and Tim Donaghy.

Hernandez has the nerve to eject the manager after that call?
