AP83, not sure why I am an idiot, as these are hard cold facts. When Gireaud returned to Lafayette for a game her first season, Skip swore he'd never play there again, she was treated so badly.They actually tore down the plaque that they had put up in her honor when she coached there. And the whole game was ugly. And they did not play again for a while. Same with baseball. After the near brawl in a regional at BR, Skip again said he would not play them. And LSU did not.

The few measly national championships the Cajuns have in waterskiing sure got a lot of media attention around Lafayette, and it was even in the sports section, SPORTS

And the plaque incident and fiasco with Yvette, you're talking about very minority group of Cajun fans (don't Tiger fans always claim the same thing) who participated in that.
Turns out several years later, Yvette even admitted that she, herself, could have handled the entire situation better, though I never really thought she needed to apologize for anything.
The majority of Cajun fans, myself included, are actually grateful for the way she built the program and realize that there was no way she could turn down the opportunity at LSU. She was fighting an administration in Martin Hall that just merely put up with athletics, at best, and worked against us at worst. I'm surprised Roby is still around after all these years.
