Right! And I never said it’s illegal, but it is a very blatant advantage

The way it’s designed is for students to turn 18 between September fall semester of Senior year to August after graduation.

You can always tell who got held back or bent the rules in these threads.

I was a sophomore in college and still could have been playing high school sports. I attended a relatively small public school and was no where near the youngest in my class.

I was 16 when I started my senior year and we only had one junior on our football team who was older than me.

Damn

Gotta say that is borderline ridiculous

Esp for a SO at 17 and a half yrs old

I get a kid that might be academically struggling, but the chance that all these kids in the same school that just so happen to be great athletes is definitely more than coincidence

Not surprising, but disappointing

This… it’s not like West Monroe is the only school ever to hold back players…. No some schools even have meetings to help

LINK

Nevermind wether it’s legal or not, should the taxpayers be on the hook for an “extra year” of educating students so they can be better at sports

Current Playing ages of a certain 2024 summer team

19 years - 6 months
19 years - 5 months
18 years - 11 months
19 years - 5 months
18 years - 5 months (legit age)
18 years - 2 months (legit age)
17 years - 7 months (one of the youngest and best prospects)
18 years - 11 months
18 years - 11 months
18 years - 10 months
18 years - 9 months
18 years - 6 months (legit age) #1 prospect in state of Louisiana
18 years - 4 months (legit age)
18 years - 1 months (legit age)
18 years - 3 months (legit age)
19 years - 2 months
18 years - 6 months (legit age)

So about half from this team are legit 2024 while the other half should have been 2023. Most of the ones that are 19 or about to be 19 comes from certain schools that are part of the discussion.

If you have a kid on the borderline that can go either way, why would you choose to not hold back?

Imagine, in the grand scheme of life, making high school sports this important.

It's laughable when these kids play down in age at the youth level.

Yeah

We all went to school with a kid in Resource

I think that’s easily understandable from an academic standpoint

But when all of your kids are Resource, I really think that’s embarrassing and a systemic problem

it also causes other parents to hold back - so their kids don’t have to compete against older kids for roster spots.

Honestly it’s a sad commentary on what we value as a society

That’s wild. But sadly I’m sure most who post in this thread or follow it are not surprised.
