Different eras, different schemes on both offense & defense, and rule changes that favor offense.

Aikman was also a winner.

Any QB stat/record achieved this century is largely meaningless. Same for WRs.

Doesn’t include postseason stats.

Troy played in 16 games vs only 4 for Andy Dalton

Also, Troy’s stats/record would have been much better if Jerry wouldn’t have done what he did to Jimmy Johnson.

Troy Aikman’s HOF career is based entirely on a four year stretch (1992-1995). Outside of that, without the best team in football at its peak, he was pretty mediocre.

Aikman was a good QB. I’m not saying he wasn’t. And he performed well in the playoffs. But there were a lot of lowlights in the ‘89-‘91, ‘96-‘00 years. He was a machine when the Dallas O was in peak form, but he wouldn’t be my choice to carry an undermanned team further than they should go.

Every time you watch a QB like Dak or Lamar fall flat on their face on the big stage, then think of Troy Aikman, because he was the opposite.

The bigger the game, the better he played.

Are you trolling or just so young that you don’t realize what the game was like in Aikman’s era?

Kinda crazy to think Aikman only played 12 seasons.

Different era. He played during a time when the mantra was knock the QB out.

Let’s also remember that Steve Buerlein, Bernie Kosar, and even Jason Garrett performed well and won a lot in Aikman’s absence - which was pretty frequent.

When Emmitt and Irvin were out, though, the team fell apart.

bullshite. Aikman had the best oline of the 90's and a great defense. easy to play great when you aren't getting touched.

He had 10 concussions.

Also, they played in two completely different eras. Almost borderline 2 completely different sports.

Definitely different era
You were handing the ball off to Emmitt on 1st and 2nd down

And how did their respective numbers compare to their contemporaries of their times? Raw stats don't tell the whole story when discussing careers that were 2 decades apart. They played different eras, essentially different games.

Yep, and Texas stadiums playing surface was basically concrete with what was comparable to cheap office carpet laid on top of it.

Would he be in the hall if he were on probably 29 other teams… nope but he wasn’t and he was the leader of back to back and three total Super Bowl wins.

He’s an average QB who was a great leader and played on some fantastic teams with a legend coach

Different eras from a rule standpoint. Defenses could maul receivers when TA played. Not so much in Dalton’s era. Also, TA played with Emmitt , which impacted the number of attempts per game.

Stats don't tell the whole story

Baker Mayfield has nicer stats than John Elway
