American Pharoah is 1-5 for Travers

He drew post 2. Frosted is 2nd choice @ 6-1 (#6 hole) Texas Red 8-1 (#4) Keen Ice 8-1 (#7). The Curlin pedigrees have run well at Saratoga. Just saying.

No speed in the race. Will be a procession around the track methinks.

He won sooo easy last time out.

I hope nothing traversy happens and he wins

Yes, I do hope he has an easy gallop for the win because if he loses, you can likely say goodbye to further appearances, even the Classic.

It's why I got so nervous for the haskell

i think he'll win but i'll play against him at 1-5 on that track. he's never ran on anything like that

baring injury he's gonna run 3 more times.

I hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it if he drops a race. I keep holding my breath about him running again. I'm part of the pessimistic crowd that didn't believe them when they said he'd keep running (though I wanted it sooo bad).

"barring Injury"…such a great built-in excuse for all owners of future, fancy stud horses.
I will fully admit to be a very bad handicapper as I let personal feelings guide me as much as anything else, but I have been following horse racing and breeding long enough to be stubborn, bitter, elated, cynical, and heartbroken, but I am not ignorant to its ways.
Believe me, if Zayat hadn't made such an undervalued deal (for him) for the stud duty back in January, American Pharaoh might very well have already been bedded down in his stall at Ashford. While I do think legacy is a very large part of it, make no mistake, these races are also about the incentives tacked on to the deal and the purse money. You have noticed they have been following the money, but hey good job on NYRA upping the Travers ante- Frammento has to earn a living too, and that increase in the bottom checks will be nice.
I am a bit dubious about a start before the Classic because it seems that the one race that might come up easy enough for him and make the most sense for him geographically and time wise, the Awesome Again/Goodwood, has a pretty low purse. However, I don't see them wanting to ship back for the JCGC. I am guessing that mythical race Monmouth is dreaming up could lure him with a big enough bonus.
As for nothing to lose… no, a loss in a top race at the end of a long and brilliant season shouldn't mean much, but alas in this new world of breeding and marketing, it does. Especially if you are about to ask people to pay $200K for the privilege of sending a top racing and/or producing mare (and thus burning an even more valuable reproductive season) to him on the hope that he will make a good sire. Just look at how Coolmore has managed Gleneagles. Now that he has won enough to gain a place in the stud stable, they keep coming up with excuses not to try him against formidable competition.

There is no chance he woulda ran in the JCGC. Whitey (Baffert) and Zayat won't run him v older horses until Keeneland BC. It's Saturday and on to Kentucky where he will train at CD and then get a work or 2 at Keeneland. Barnes will be with him like always. I don't think the average fan knows how much work Jimmy has put into the horse make him what he is today. Saturday could be one of those "trap" races just like LSU in a "trap" game. I am getting a feeling that Pharaoh is going to struggle. Not saying he will lose but another horse is going to look him in the eye and possibly duke it out. It happened in the Derby

I'll take American Pharoah at 1-5 all day.

Damn, Fipke's on fire today. May just through $5 to win on ole Tale of Verve for the hell of it.
After watching them in the paddock for the King's Bishop- Loose on the Town is looking great and how can one not like a Speightstown?-- whelp he looked beautiful galloping across the finish line last as well.
Runhappy indeed. McIngvale is a name I haven't heard in a while. Brings me back to the late 90s.

Private Zone just so damn consistent. Joel Rosario took a helluva header at the top of the race. Hopefully he is ok.

If Secretariat couldn't win the Traverse, Pharaoh has no shot
