No disrespect to Kobe, he's an all-time great. Just was way past his prime and retired three years to late, imo. The truth is that franchise was in bondage until he left. It's great to see the return of real Laker basketball.

You've got your young PF back as well as a top pick. Randle, Ingram, Deng, Williams, and coaching make a big difference. All Kobe did at the end was take low percentage shots and kill ball movement. This young team is fun.

I really think Kobe staying and retiring last year was perfect simply bc of who they have been able to get in the draft and getting Walton

Kobe leaves sooner and who know. BYRON Scott might be the coach.

Also all of the Young guys got to just play in the NBA last year with no pressure and now most have at least one year and are not surprised by anything

And I think Walton could be the next great coach.

Kobe is great, but he was an anvil around the neck of that team last year. Now the young guys can play and develop without worryinf about deferring to Kobe.

Lakers and Pels are the most exciting young teams to watch in the NBA right now

Nah it was Kobe.

Byron Scott was just brought there to babysit him to the end of his career.

That situation played out PERFECTLY for the Lakers. Sucked so bad, they got Ingram. Went from Scott to Walton. Those guys got to sit around and watch Kobe be Kobe all year without it affecting their games. They basically got a full year of "catch me up to NBA" speed without any risk for damage to their psyche from a notorious veteran loving coach. It's showing now. They look like a team that doesn't know any better.

I've told a lot of people that disagreed that Luke Walton would be a very good coach. I think he's doing wonders for the Lakers and is a good fit for them.

Anyone here willing to predict that they will finish the season with over say 38-39 wins?

They are 8-7 right now so I could see them staying around .500 for the season. I think as the season goes on they will have trouble with the better teams because the Lakers are so young and those teams will take them more seriously.

The one thing that I have noticed about them is it really looks like they are having fun.

I can see them at about 35 wins at seasons end. which would be a great season for them considering their talent level and age.

Walton may have gotten Kobe to buy in too.
I'm just mad the Pels hired the wrong guy Gentry.
Byron Scott is an awful coach.
