Okay, that's fair. I hope judge wins it. That's good for the Yankees. Good luck in the wild card.

This is the stat i'm seeing a lot of talking heads use to partially explain voting for Judge.
I'm not a huge baseball stat junkie, but is that a big difference over 162 games? it's 1 more time crossing home plate every 10 games right? Judge hits more HRs so it makes sense he would have more runs scored then right? He gets himself an R 50 times with just his HRs

Of course Votto found a way to cut down on Ks and increase his walks & power numbers
Possibly the most impressive part about his season. His walk to strikeout ratio is 1.61. Second best in the majors is Justin turner at 1.05.

The Astros are my team but I'll have no problem if Judge gets MVP.
The deciding factor is that Judge has more RBIs and scored more runs. Having more RBIs isn't a surprise but scoring more runs is.
If Altuve gets more hits and, thus, has a higher batting average plus steals a lot more bases plus hits 2nd or 3rd in the lineup of a team that over the course of the season is one of the best offenses in the game, how does Judge has Judge scored more runs?
However, Altuve is the better choice. Judge plays in Yankee stadium. He's hit 33 of his 52 HRs there. While not a lefty, it's still a hitters park. Minute Maid park is not a hitters park.
Altuve has a road ops of 1.018 and Judge has a road OPS of .935.
Altuve has 15 HRs on the road versus 19 for Judge.
Both have 46 RBIs on the road. Altuve has scored 10 (65 vs 55) more runs than Judge on the road.
Judge benefits from having a hitters home ballpark while Altuve suffers from the opposite.

Not really. Hitting home runs is an automatic scored run. He hit 50, altuve hit 25, that's a difference of 25 runs right there

What do the park adjusted numbers say

I think I would vote Altuve and Arenado. Judge and Arenado probably win.

Why do those numbers matter for the AL and not the NL

Judge and Trout both have excellent arguments for MVP I think along with Altuve. It should be very close between Altuve and Judge. I am biased and want Altuve to win but can't really be mad if Judge does

I'd go Altuve and Votto.
Even though Votto is on a terrible team, he's the best player in the league.

I'm an Astros fan, and would love for Altuve to get it. But looking at WAR in another light has me going with Judge. The Yanks probably would not be in the playoffs without him (assuming the 7.whatever Wins above replacement). Take value however you want, but it's not just Altuve who got the Astros this far.

Judge least clutch player on record
Judge did his damage more when the game was not on the line. Let's add context to those numbers.

Arenado isn't winning lol

When you have the hard numbers & park adjusted numbers over the other guy there isn't much argument
I assume you're taking votto v Stanton, it doesn't exactly stack up that way.
