Is this guy just having a fluke of a season and will get significantly overpaid or do we have another star in the making. The guy was undrafted, not even a late rounder like sherman, and he's playing surprisingly well without jj watt wrecking offensive lines. Pro Football Focus has him at the top rated corner in the league now. Discuss

Pretty much the story of the best corner every year. Its a crazy flukey position that depends heavily on what you can get away with from the refs (which is random as frick) and who you cover.

I agree, I was pretty shocked reading he was the top rated corner in the league especially being relatively unknown and undrafted.

Well two weeks ago Claiborne was billed as the top corner by PFF. And a week or two before that Rashard Robinson had the highest grade of all rookies. It seems like one good or bad game for a corner can significantly improve/diminish their stock.

These are the first team All-Pro cornerbacks for the last 5 years. Josh Norman might be the only flukey one. So its not that flukey at all.

2015: Josh Norman & Patrick Peterson

2014: Darrelle Revis & Richard Sherman

2013: Richard Sherman & Patrick Peterson

2012: Richard Sherman & Charles Tillman

2011: Charles Woodson & Darrelle Revis

2010: Darrelle Revis & Nnamdi Asomugha

Chris Harris Jr has been 2nd team All-Pro twice as well. 2014 and 2015.

Jonathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson are both tougher matchups in real life. He has had a good stretch the last couple of games, but he is 3rd best corner on his own team.

Who do they have as #1 player in NFL at this moment?

Last i heard, they had Aaron Donald as #1 player. And it wasn't close, they have him at dominating numbers, despite him not getting the sacks he had last year.

So then do you have the last 5 years of the highest rated cornerbacks

Would love to see it compared

Probably be the same or almost the same list

I heard O'Brien talking about him yesterday. He said that when he became coach of the Texans, they were impressed with his size and length but he seemed to lack confidence at times. As Bouye has become more confident in his ability, his play has continued to improve. The radio host (interviewing O'Brien) suggested that Bouye may be the MVP of the team at the halfway point.

I also heard someone else suggest that this may be Joseph's last year in Houston due to Bouye playing so well.

Bouye is without a doubt better than J Joe now. Jackson has always been up and down. Bouye has looked great the last few weeks but corner is so tough to be consistent at

Nnamdi Asomugha. Went from one of the if not the most fear corners in the game '08, '09, '10 got a big free agent contract and became a total bum. Not sure how you turn from the best corner in the league to one of the worst in an offseason.

Ask Darrelle Revis in 2016.

Got paid, stopped caring.

Yeah that is bad

But at least he was a proven CB. He wasnt a one year wonder

That is my only point. Just look back over the years and the overwhelming majority of the top CBs were not just a one year flash in the pan. I mean guys like Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson then shifting to Revis and Sherman.

Dudes quitting after a big payday is not unique to CB's and its not unique to the NFL
