Liston was a 7 to 1 favorite. 95% of boxing writers polled said Liston would win by KO in 3 rounds or less.

Ali (Clay) completely outclassed Liston - look at 12:00 on the video (that's the last minute of the first round). Ali makes Liston look like an amateur.

Ali slips another punch by a fraction of an inch. Did it time after time.

Ali ( Clay) was a boxer who could brawl. Guys like Liston were brawler/tough guy types but they could not move. Marciano was a boxer as was Robinson. They had great footwork, speed and vision

It would be cool to see ali's Olympic fights. He was light heavy, 175.

Anyone who doesn’t consider Ali an all-time great athlete, especially considering he lost a lot of his prime years, is probably a LeBron fan.

Ali and Babe Ruth are considered to be two of the greatest athletes of all time and both are still underrated.

The first round of that fight is one of my favorites of all time. Clay was just miles ahead of Liston athletically. He really was toying with him. Way bigger. Way faster. Way better boxer. Nobody saw it coming, though.

I think MJ is the greatest. MJ would be better at baseball/boxing than Ruth at basketball/boxing, Ali at basketball/baseball.

Fight was rigged. Just like his next fight vs Liston.

Nobody did the lean-back -- a move that is about as anti-fundamental as they come -- like young Clay. Did it All. The. Time. And to great effect.

I love the call on this:

"Clay just laughs at him, backs away, bobbing and weaving.."
