Connor Halliday from Wazzu is leading the nation in passing, fyi...FWIW.
He has the highest completion %, most yards and most Tds.
He also plays in Leach's system.
And Andre Ware played in the new Houston run n' shoot.
And Detmer played in BYU's revolutionary passing system under Norm Chow that produced QBs.
And Ron Dayne played in Wisconsin's run first-run heavy system.
I'm not saying Halliday should be Heisman front-runner...
I'm just saying back in the day, he WOULD be a front-runner.
And he should be in the conversation, but he's not...that's how low the bar has sunk...everyone is so lazy, they don't want to investigate players not on the top teams.
Now everyone, including everyone on this board...just looks at the best player on the #1 or Top 5 team...and mostly it's just the #1 team.
So in essence, we've whittled down the Heisman to "not the best player in college football" but the "best player on the #1 ranked team before Heisman voting."

Melvin Gordon.
I like Gordon and think he deserves more attention.
However, every Wisconsin running back suffers from the perception (fair or not) that they're interchangeable and could all have 6.0 ypc averages.
As much as I dislike Oregon, I'm actually at peace with the idea of Mariota winning the Heisman, especially if Oregon wins the Pac-12. This year's Oregon team isn't as good as previous years' teams. In particular, the offensive line is shaky, and their defense is prone to having major lapses. Without Mariota, I really wonder what Oregon's record would be this year.

In my opinion, I think everyone that has seen Gordon play understands that he is in a completely different mold than your traditional Wisconsin tailback. He is an absolute game breaker.

The race should have been between Mariota and Gurley. That would've been fun to watch. Frick you NCAA

The Big 10 isn't going to have a Heisman winner. Not when Oregon pasted the best defense for 46 points.

Never said they would have a Heisman winner.

While I do agree for the most part, the O-line has looked light years better with Jake Fisher back and their other week 1 starting OT Andre Yruretagoyena is close to returning. The defense has even been playing better the past few weeks. They are starting to play their best ball at the right time.

I'd rather have Mariota.
