Such a dumbass thing to say. I wasn't aware that Aaron Rodgers played defense or kicked field goals or coached the team. When did all that take place? Must've missed it.

Too many sports fans are obsessed with the rings argument. Just this morning my coworkers are arguing that Kobe is still superior to Lebron because 5 to 3. "that's all that matters" they say.

That poster hit the nail on the head though. The general perception, especially held by the casual fan is that Brady is the goat, in part due to super bowl success. Brady's resume is currently much better than Rodgers, and only Rodgers winning multiple titles will change that.

The same poster also noted that Rodgers plays the qb position better than Brady, or anyone else in history, which I believe to be true.

The poster that said Rodgers plays QB better but Brady is the better QB?

Then you and that poster believe Rodgers is the greatest QB of all time.

Obviously not a team leader and can't win when it counts

I can't go there yet, but I can say his peak is as good as anyone's that's played the game. After his career is over he will definitely be in the conversation for G.O.A.T.

The measure of the G.O.A.T. is a combination of peak play coupled with longevity. He needs the raw numbers to bolster his case, and he will get there. I don't see the need to make a conclusive assertion right now.

There's only 1 explanation, the one who plays QB is the better QB.

Anything else is just silly. If you play the position better, you are better. It's pretty simple.

What was the Pats record without Brady?

What would be the packers record without Rodgers?

Btw, I'm a fan of both.

I agree, but on paper, and to the casual fan, Brady is considered the goat due to a better resume filled with team accomplishments.

That's the point that the poster made that I agree with. The things that seperate Rodgers don't show up in a box score or record books.

Member when people were saying that Tom Brady's career was over after a disastrous start to the 2014 season and a MNF beating from the Chiefs?

GTFO using two bad games for Rodgers as a comparison. Every player has bad games.

Keep ignoring the main point… Rodgers was completing 60% of his passes, running around like a chicken with his head cut off with one of the best offensive lines and losing games. GOAT.

If you would have actually watched those games, you would have seen the replays and announcers highlighting the fact that the WR's weren't getting separation. Kind of hard to complete passes to guys who aren't open, regardless of how good the protection is. Couple that with the fact that their D was getting shredded like the sorry arse Saints D.

I do agree with this, but I took it from that poster as he wasn't just saying that's what the casual fan thinks, he was saying that's what he thinks. I may have missed it though.

The metrics guys have endlessly pointed this out and the whole no running back thing when Rodgers was playing like "garbage"

The inferiority complex of the new generation of sports fans is entertaining to witness.

They equate better stats with a better product, & ignore the rule changes.

The difficulty of the game for offenses is immensely easier since they outlawed breathing on WR's or most touching of any kind.

I love when NFL Network shows classics & see Atwater destroy a WR, or LT annihalate a QB into another dimension

Greatness in NFL QBs is linked to SB appearances. Brady, E. Manning, Roethlisberger, and Wilson all have more.

This GB team is fools gold right now. They have no run game. They have not been back to the SB in six years and cannot get past Seattle in the playoffs. Yes, he's statistically great, but his team has no run game, so he has to be.

Right now, he's in the same league as Joe Flacco and Brad Johnson. Until he wins another, that's where I put him. I hate watching GB games bc all the announcers do is slob his knob and then blame the lack of run game when he throws picks.

probably so.

I won't lie to you I just felt like taking a trip down narrative street with the Basketball on Grass line. It sounds funny to me.

found an opportunity to use it and there you have it.

This board routinely neglects Troy Aikman's accomplishments, despite being one of the most accurate & clutch QB in NFL history prior to the rule changes.

He didn't have to throw for 5,000 yards because he had Emmitt Smith running for 1500 yards routinely and controlled the clock to take advantage of their superior run game & defense.

When you threw for 4,000 yards back then, it usually meant you were losing and had to throw. That is not where you want be if you are a SB contender.
QB's shouldn't be penalized for being efficient. That's why QB rating is important.

Steve Young & Aikman were the only QB's consistently with a QB rating of 100+'during their run in the 90s
