Just like most of the older crowd says NBA defensive player of the year Marc Gasol isn't worthy of touching the same paint as Patrick Ewing and David Robinson.

To answer your other question, Michael Jordan was one of the best athletes in the NBA. LeBron is one of the best athletes to ever walk on this planet.

He is just gonna say he was only an all-NBA defender because he only had to guard 90s players

Both of them would absolutely destroy Gasol

On first few pages there was the athletes are bigger and better today acting like 90s was 40s..

pippen was a great athlete. robinson was a great athlete for a big man. barkley was...unique...just one of those weird outlier guys

who has ever proclaimed stockton to be an elite athlete of his era, let alone comparable to today's guys?

that's a serious question

And John Stockton guarding Russell Westbrook would be a mismatch and a half.

5x all nba defense (albiet 2nd team....2nd best guard defender jn league isnt shabby) and all time steals leader shows some type of athletathleticism when guarding other guards who tend tk be quick

Bird & Laettner.

Stockton was a great shooter.

Reggie Miller, Mitch Richmond, Glen Rice, Tim Hardaway, Dennis Scott, Mark Price, Terry Porter,

You know what I meant. With the right pieces, you don't think it could work?

I just dont see how 3-4 years of this "new scheme" stuff puts everything to rest. Like all of a sudden the NBA is better now.

patrick motherfricking ewing would not

look y'all can blow DRob all you want and i won't argue, but ewing was seen as a guy wasting his talent who never lived up to it for most of his career. he never developed the post game for the era and was a so-so jump shooter. there is a reason that it's called the "Ewing Theory"

Kobe said that the Spurs are basically running the triangle now. When he watched them in the finals, he said it is all the same concepts..

maybe.

athleticism isnt everything on defense. For as athletic as Westbrook is, he sure does miss a lot of shots. He wouldnt even be on my 15' team.

having the only dominant front court in the NBA with a rim protector and skilled 4, or a shaq-like force...with a 25 ppg wing guy? yes, it could work

Ewing was not as consistent as he should have been, but come on, Slo. Marc Gasol?

Bestbrook would be on my bench but only as a spark/energy-offense guy

i like the paul/harden/ariza/davis/noah 2nd unit so he wouldn't even get in that rotation

Yeah, GOATbrook is the sixth man. He'd be lethal in that role.

kinda like putting Lebron next to an all time great SG with 3pt shooters all around? yea, what a scheme

at least the above quote confirms that good big men still win in the NBA. There really just arent any

Ya being a 25+ point guy that got 10+ boards a game and over 3.5 blocks in his prime is a total waste of talent.

oh yea, i forgot, Deandre Jordan
DeAndre Jordan Making Strong Case for DPOY

“He’s been great,” said head coach Doc Rivers. “He’s clearly the Defensive Player of the Year. If anyone else gets that award, we need to have an investigation.”

He’s been particularly formidable since Griffin went down, averaging 14.9 points, 19.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Diving further into analytics, Jordan’s one of only five players in NBA history to play at least 2000 minutes with a rebound percentage of at least 30, a block percentage of at least five, and a steal percentage of at least one.

Those of you discrediting DeAndre Jordan look like fricking idiots.

The Pacers tried running more traditional schemes and Miami beat the hell out of them for it.
