Only 60 total players drafted and some will be seniors. This is a big problem and the league has to make some changes

Do you mean the NCAA requiring players to stay longer than a year?

Why? What incentive would the league have to decrease its selection pool. It's not the league's job to prevent players from making poor business decisions.

If anything, the league should continue to develop the D-League into a strong farm system to better exploit the growing and diverse talent pool.

The 30 second shot clock is a good start. But you're right, the NCAA needs to make a lot of changes.

The NCAA has no requirements on how long a player must stay in school before turning pro.

There's probably like 3300 underclassmen in D1 so that's a really small number.

Why does everyone rip basketball players?
No one gave a frick when Johnny Dishon left in 2010 for baseball. Nor does anyone care when any high school player skips college. Even when both are long shots to ever make the league.

If Silver has his way, it will up to 20. If the NCAA is smart, the rule changes will make their players more NBA ready.

Pretty much this.

And it's not like options don't exist for guys who don't get drafted.

I'm confused on how this is a big issue.

It's not like they hide the players from the fact that some of them will be undrafted.

People are allowed to make stupid decisions.

I say at least two years before going pro. But if an 18 year old can buy a beer and fly a $100 million aircraft to fight for our country then you cant stop them from making a living at what they are good enough to do.

That's a crazy number. So more than a third of early entries into the draft won't even get drafted. Who is advising all these kids?

How?

"From now on if you come to college to play ball you have to stay at least two years"

"ok"

"hey where are you going??"

"The NBA"

"but but but...."

The 91 early entries is a little inflated (for lack of a better word).

Yes there are literally 91 early entries, but some of those are guys who probably have eligibility issues and guys who are just sick of school.

They know there's a slim chance they'll get drafted, but figure they can always play elsewhere for some decent money.
