They are going to lighten up on the celebration penalties.

OT will be reduced from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. Could result in more ties.

They will eliminate the 75 man cut-down rule. So only have 1 roster cut from 90 down to 53.

2 players can come off the IR. Previously it was 1.

I hope they remove the 3 Pump Rule

Should have made illegal contact to 5 yd penalty and replay the down just like offside. All these "automatic 1st down" resulting from a ref's judgement is BS.

3rd and 15 , illegal contact? 1st down.

Make holding a 5-yard penalty.

That's a good one. It drives me nuts when that happens in a game.

A close, meaningful game at that

Either this or get strict on how it's called. It's ridiculous what's called holding sometimes and it's almost always a drive killer.

And how about restricting them from calling holding on EVERY SINGLE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY???

That always bothers me, too.

This makes Hard Knocks a lil more interesting.

I don't see the point of reducing OT to 10 minutes. Should have just left it the way it was.

But on the flip side, if it's 3 and 15, a DB will yank the WR around knowing it may not get noticed and if it does, then so what- no first down. This keeps the defense honest.

I think refs look at illegal contact pretty much the same as passing interference and it should care as much weight. Let's say a DB straight up illegally tackles a WR as the ball is snapped and completely eliminates him from the play. A QB can't even throw it to that WR. Thus, the penalty carries almost the same weight as PI.

Should have for once and all - defined what a catch is.

For ALL parts of the field.

It's pretty much a turnover when that happens because the drives continues because it's an automatic 1st down. Heck, sometimes the QB is not even looking at the WR being illegally contacted and QB throws to another WR, gets picked. But hey, it's illegal contact..lets reward a QB's frick up.

The honest angle doesn't hold weight. Ex, 3rd and 3. Offense converts. Offensive holding. Now, it's 3rd and 13. But offense gets another crack at it. How come offensive holding results in "replaying the down"? If penalties are to keep players honest, how come they give offenses 2nd chances? therefore, offensive players are not held to the same "honest" guidelines as defensive players.

I mean hell...why not make offside auto 1st down? All other defensive penalties do so. Offside is clear as day in most cases while illegal contact is more personal judgment.

I've always wondered, why is it you can get two toes down in bounds and have it considered a catch, while you can get 99% of both of your feet in bounds, but that's considered incomplete?

I want to see no half distance BS if you can mark the yards off to the 5.

so personal foul on your own 20, or holding penalty at the 15, you go back to the 5 and if your on their 20 you get to the 5 and not half distance rule to the 10 making it just a 10 yrd personal foul

once, and only once you get inside the 5, or the penalty takes you inside the 5, then you do half the distance.

defensive holding and offensive holding should both be 10 yard penalties plus the first down for defensive penalty

Marvin Lewis is pissed because celebrations set a bad example for kids. Yes, that Marvin Lewis, the one with Pac Man Jones and Mixon and Burfict, etc on his team

They need to stop differentiating between endzone catches and field of play catches.

And I love how if a pass is thrown to you in the endzone and you are upright and it crosses the goal line but is stripped - that's an immediate touchdown...because the ball passed the goal line with immediate possession - but if it's immediately stripped in the field of play - that's an incomplete pass.

And if the ball is stripped in the endzone, that's a TD...because he had control with both feet down...

But if the player makes a catch in the endzone on the run and takes 3 steps and falls down and rolls over like Rover...and loses the ball - that's an incomplete pass.

Why even change this? Completely stupid. The last thing the NFL needs is more ties.

Fumble out of the EZ should not be a turnover. And if it is, the other team should get it at the 1, not the 20.
