because the TV money would be much less.

The 2 divisions in each mega conference would serve as he 8 "conferences." The conference championships would just be elimination games.

This isnt happening. What is more likely to happen is the Big 12 expand by 4 teams to get to 14 members. 5 conferences of 14, plus 3 wildcards for an 8 team playoff. Far more likely to happen.

Big 12 additions:

Colorado State
Cincinnati
BYU
Boise St

So if other conferences go to 16, you don't think the SEC would?

16 isn't some magic number. I know it satisfies people's compulsions for greater symmetry, but it wouldn't do the league any good to get to 16 just for the sake of getting to 16. If Duke and UNC wanted on board? Done. You do that. If NC State and Virginia Tech want in you do that too. Hell any combination of Virginia and North Carolina schools would be great, but outside of that why reach for a number? It doesn't do you any good.

I could honestly see a scenario where the ACC tries to cherry pick kentucky out of the SEC.

While alot of my fellow Missouri fans don't think we would ever leave the SEC, I could see a scenario where Mizzou heads to the Big 10.

I could see a 8 team playoff, but many are already complaining that teams play too many games.

Will never happen

Also, leaving TCU is bad idea imo.

Then who would the 8 East schools be?

It doesn't matter because there is not a chance in hell Texas is ever going to be in the SEC.

Bingo, the only way the SEC/Big Ten/Pac12 go to 16 is if it makes them more money, if not what's the point.

None of these schools at the present time would make them money.

B1G 16 (both AAU):
kansas
Iowa St

PAC 16:
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Texas Tech
Texas

ACC 16:
West Virginia
TCU
Baylor

The teams going to the ACC take the spots currently held by NC State and Virginia Tech who will go to the SEC. Notre Dame becomes a full member of the ACC for 16 total.

Kansas St is screwed.

Note this won't happen until the Big 12 GOR is about to expire.
