Considering we have 5 power conferences for 4 CFP spots, it seems inevitable that realignment will happen once again to create 4 Mega Conferences.Assuming the Big12 implodes, as it is the most likley...where do their members end up.

ACC-14 members + Notre Dame
SEC- 14 members
B1G- 14 members
Pac- 12 members

If those are the 4 conferences, it looks like there is 9 spots available, considering ND takes up an ACC spot.

Here are the current Big12 schools:

kansas
KState
Iowa St
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Baylor
TCU
Texas Tech
Texas
West Virginia.

Where would these teams end up...or might we see Kentucky head to the ACC? Discuss

WVU to the ACC-16 teams
Mizzou and Iowa St. to B10
Texas, OU, Okie Lite to the SEC
PAC 12 take the Kansas schools and the Texas left overs.

Or we could TCU and PAC 12 take KU and KSU, Texas Tech and Baylor and Texas can be left out.

ACC 14 + Notre Dame + West Virginia
PAC 12 + Texas + Texas Tech + Oklahoma + Oklahoma State
B1G 14 + nobody or Kansas + ??
SEC 14 + nobody

Schools with little hope of making a P4 conference = Kansas State and Iowa State

Schools left behind (hello CUSA) = Baylor + TCU

So if other conferences go to 16, you don't think the SEC would?

Mizzou is already in the SEC, they aren't going anywhere.

And Iowa will never allow Iowa State in the Big Ten

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the SEC.

The 4 Texas schools to the Pac 12.

Kansas and Kansas State to B1G

West Virginia to the ACC

Iowa State? Sorry. Stop getting upset in the first round in basketball.

Kansas maybe for the B1G, they are in the AAU. Definitely not KSU.

I think the B1G might be able to poach one from the ACC like Georgia Tech or Virginia.

As of now, Nebraska is the only B1G school without AAU (Association of American Universities) affiliation.

That AAU affiliation will need to be taken into account when expanding the B1G.

Iowa State is part of that group, so they would make sense. Kansas is also an AAU member. Mizzou once had a desire to be part of the B1G, but that was once upon a time. Not happening.

Georgia Tech is another viable option. Since realignment/expansion began, Ga Tech has always been mentioned in the same breath as the B1G.

It could change, but the odds of Iowa State joining the B1G, as of now, are small. There is no incentive in adding them.

I'd love to see TCU in either the SEC or Pac.

Eventually, it's gonna end up at 4 conferences of 16 teams each. ECU, UCF, USF (if they can ever get their shite together), Cincinnati, BYU, Boise State and maybe Fresno State will all end up in big boy leagues at some point.

I assume your focus is football, and that the champion of each 16 team conference gets a spot in the playoffs. Wouldn't every conference be split into 2 divisions of 8 teams each, and isn't the conference championship game essentially a first round playoff game? So why not go to 8 conferences with 8 teams and add another playoff round? Every conference could play a true round robin, and there would be no penalty for losing out of conference games. You would avoid situations where LSU plays Georgia and Florida in non-divisional games while Alabama gets to play Tennessee and Kentucky. All teams would have an incentive to play games against non-conference opponents that would prepare them for conference play, and possibly the playoffs if the team is good enough to be the conference champion. Rivalry games could be maintained even if they have no bearing on conference championships.

There are already 65 Big Boy schools and realignment would only allow for 64. How do you propose 7 new teams?
