Really need to ditch the dw12 it's an outdated chassis. Back to our point in thermal it was made for TV not the fans. I doubt Iracing scans the track anytime soon. Plus I'm still pissed at the people that have beef with Laguna. They have no claims as stated by doughnut medias somewhat review of said claims.

Same bull that has happened to line rock. It's not on the Indy or Imsa schedule for 2024. Nor on the Imsa schedule for 2025. I'd love to see Indy race at road Atlanta but the wreck caused by Pipo Derani running Albuquerque off the road shows why Indy can never race there. They widened the track a while back but didn't move the walls accordingly. So yeah.

i guess we are getting new chassis in 2027.
Hopefully they take some inspiration from Dallara IR-01 (halo not aeroscreen pls) with an open engine reg like IMSA with BOP

Long beach was saved. Sure would've been upset to see Nascar have a part. Then no formula drift/stadium trucks/Imsa.

Indy car will not grow with the current NBC/peacock System. It's setup to aggravate new and long time viewers from the start. If they were smart they would've already hired Shea Adam. (She's on IMSA radio/TV) Show less commercials please.

We’re lucky most races are on a Network that has pretty good commentators and coverage. The ABC years with Goodyear and Cheever were horrific. I don’t like that one race is on Peacock, but I can live with it.

There are plenty of prior winners of the Long Beach GP racing this weekend: defending champion Kyle Kirkwood, Josef Newgarden, Colton Herta, Alexander Rossi, Scott Dixon, and Will Power.

Andretti has won 4 of the past 5 Long Beach GPs. However, one if its former drivers which won two of those four GPs, Alexander Rossi, now drives for Arrow McLaren.

Winning from pole is not as common on this street circuit as you would expect. It has only been done three times in the past 15 seasons, but, conversely, three times in the past five races. It it usually part of an absolutely dominating weekend for the winning driver.
2023 - Kyle Kirkwood (who also led the most laps)
2019 - Alexander Rossi (who also led the most laps)
2018 - Alexander Rossi (who also led the most laps)

IndyCar introduces new road course wind screen this weekend at Long Beach
It makes the car lighter but that is in advance of the hybrid engine EVO

quote:

The upgraded model, which builds upon the device implemented in advance of the 2020 season, is lighter but also features elements to keep drivers cooler during races that take place in the summer month.

It accomplishes this with vents but also a top front duct that directs air to the drivers’ chests. The ducting is 3D printed in rubber to prevent hand injuries in an incident.

That race was AWESOME. Dixon is a fuel saving wizard. I was really hoping Herta could catch Dixon. I also wonder why Newgarden essentially stopped in the middle of the hairpin?

Edit: I take back what I said. Herta pretty much rear ended him

One of the other drivers said he was in the same boat as Dixon (I think they pitted on the same lap) so he had to hit the same fuel numbers as Dixon, but Dixon was still pulling away from him and this guy was amazed at what Dixon was doing.

Dixon is the most underrated driver in the world. He doesn't have to be the fastest guy over one lap because he knows so intimately how IndyCar races flow, how to save fuel and still go fast, how to preserve the tires, etc. Remember last year at the Indy road course, Graham was the fast guy that weekend and he was supposed to win the race. Dixon got hit on the first lap and ended up near the back of the pack. Off-strategy, he worked his way to the front, but had to save fuel on the last stint. Graham was able to use more power and caught up but Dixon hung on for the win. Just mind-blowing performances.

If not for the terrible gas stop by Graham might have been different result..

Love that there were two big strategies out there today..

That was a friggin' awesome race.

As much as I like Herta, it appeared Newgarden had some pace to catch Dixon and Herta did not. Of course, there was no guarantee Newgarden would catch Dixon, but, still, when Josef wants to turn it on, he is probably the fastest man on the track.

Herta is pretty frustrating. He has days where he is the fastest guy on the track, but he makes too many mistakes. I can think of at least two times in the last 2-3 years where he was the fastest guy that day, but crashed out with unforced errors: Nashville and Long Beach (that time when he crashed at the end of the back straight on a pit-in lap). Herta bumping Newgarden was a mistake that Dixon would never do. I don't know why Michael Andretti is so intent on getting him to F1. I think the pressure will eat him alive.
