Some of the mocks about a month ago had the Stros taking Louisville flamethrower Zach Burdi at 17 which I would LOVE and I still think if he's available that seems to make a ton of sense but unfortunately the latest mocks I've seen have him getting taken earlier

Regardless, I would love a college arm for Houston that can ideally make an impact soon

If the Braves end up with someone other than Lewis, Groome or Ray I will be mildly disappointed. Not a huge Pint fan and don't really want any part of Puk or Senzel. Hopefully Anderson somehow falls to us at 40, definitely don't want him at 3.

Because half of these guys will never make it and maybe 2 or 3 will become All-Stars. That is why MLB draft will never be a big deal.

Don't follow them too closely but isn't Atlanta absolutely loaded at pitching? Or is that not the case anymore? Seems like one of those stud college outfielders who would be ready when the team is in 2017/2018ish makes a ton of sense

Is Burdi the one that's been a reliever at Louisville but some people think he can become a starter? Or is that someone else?

Do the Astros still have Appel? Where is he?

Cardinals have 3 #1 picks this year with a new scouting director.

This is the yearly see how bad Luhnow can frick up the first round thread?

He has done a good job overall but should have grabbed Bryant over Appel and Rodon or schwarber over Aiken.

He did well picking bregman in 15 tho

Yes they have accumulated tons of quality arms, especially in the lower minors. The low A rotation in particular is absolutely loaded.

I don't think they will really concern themselves with need though.

Conflicting reports of whether they like Groome or Pint better but I could easily see them continuing to stockpile high ceiling arms if they are really enamored with one of those two.

I always like to see who takes a risk on nigh-unsignable HS guys and injury risks.

Its such a different draft than the other leagues.

interested to see where stephen alemais and jake rogers go from tulane.

i think steph could go anywhere from the 3rd to 6th round. rogers could go anywhere from the 4th to the 8th round.

both are probably the best defensive college prospects at their positions - shortstop and catcher, respectively. rogers is pretty unreal back there.

Got Bregman and Cameron out of the Aiken deal so that one isn't an issue in the end.

Pretty much everyone had Appel ranked No. 1 so it wasn't some sort of wild-hair pick.

If you want to crap on Luhnow, go after his trades to acquire veterans. Plenty of ammo there.

NAh. Lots of people were afraid of appel's numbers and results not matching the stuff. Plus his agent and signability were all red flags the dude thought very highly of himself

Most people had him rated number one. Agent and signability was not an issue for a senior draft but it clearly was the year before.
