Moody fly isn't even remotely close to the Chouests.

I wouldn't say isn't remotely close...they definitely belong in the same conversation.

When Chouest tried and couldn't get the capital together to purchase the then Hornets, didn't Benson step in and buy them?

Chouest was part of a large group who made an offer (or was set to make an offer). I don't know what his share was to be, but Morris Bart was in for 1/10 or $50MM ( Source). Other shares were of similar size. The NBA was more keen to have a single owner so they made a sweetheart deal with Benson. That's how he ended up with the tower and WVUE. As I understand things (not well!). Lots of numbers in this one

It is hilarious, and enviable, how much Tom Benson's fortune has grown from tax-payer money/subsidies/sweetheart deals by merely owning the Saints.

Chouest is the wealthiest in LA. It was reported that he would have been the 4th wealthiest owner in the NBA if that deal would have been approved.

Forbes can only value it's list off of public information. Benson would be at best #3 in LA.

Chouest is on another level than Moody; seriously, not close.
