My wife's company will match up to 6%. I am told that is pretty good. Is that good, ok, or bad?

Yep, dollar for dollar they'll match up to 6% from her salary that she puts in.

We were 5% with no match required. It's now 3% with no match required and a 3% match. Fully vested from day 1

If they match at all, the. I would say that's good. I don't know this for sure, but I would think that there are a very small amount of companies that will match your contributions at all, especially right now. Take the free money and be grateful.

I thought that seemed pretty good that they would match at that rate. I'm a little out of touch with what private companies are offering now a days as I've been in a government job for the last 13 years.

I've got mine at 6% right now, but we have up to 8% matching as an option.

Wow 8%. I don't know your financial situation but I'd highly recommend trying to put the full 8% up as soon as you could swing it. That's free money and can quickly add up over the years.

I had a professor mention they (professors) put in 5% and the university "matches" with 10%.

So they work 2-3 days a week, have 1/4 of the year off completely and get those kinds of benefits. Not a bad gig.

My company does 3% match wich seems to be about average.

I know there is one company local that does 10% - no employee contribution required. And have a friend that claims his company matches up to 12% wich is the highest I have heard.
