It weighs an ounce and sets off the metal detector at the airport. $10k spend a year gets me Marriott Gold status which I do use and if and when I stay at a Ritz I get free Club Level upgrades.

don't get the Ritz card just because of how cool it looks. There are much better cards out there to get before this one..

That depends on the person and their usage.

You disagree with the fact that the Ritz isn't the best primary card to have?

I fail to see a scenario where the Ritz beats CSP/AmEx PRG,BCP/Citi Premier unless you are constantly staying at the Ritz

Also if you are in the market for a high AF premium card, i dont see how Ritz beats the Prestige. Better lounge access, no hassle airline credit, better points earning, free golf, 4th night free..

Did I say primary card? I use it because I stay at Marriott a lot and I get free nights and upgrades. If I choose to stay in a Ritz I also get club level rooms which is a pretty significant upgrade.

The conversation turned to metal cards and the coolness factor. That's all. Now unbunch those panties.

Read the link, if I get another card, I'll go for it. I'm happy with the centurion card

Anyone here ever used the citi diamond preferred card?

AmEx releases very limited info about this card to non-cardholders. I'm curious. What are some of the benefits yall like with this card? I think it comes with Delta Platinum Medallion. That could be cool. What else, if you dont mind sharing?

The airport lounges are cool but I do not use many of the perks.

Hmm I see. It comes with Priority Pass (and ofcourse Centurion) lounge access if I am not mistaken. Any reason you choose to pay 5x the AF than something like Citi Prestige which has the same lounge access, effectively $200 AF and tons of other benefits?

You definitely pay more for what maybe you could get for less, but I like the perks and I've just decided to stick to it. Plus I really like Amex.

I'm sure it has its perks that's why you keep it. I'm just asking out of curiosity - what are they?

Most of the perks are for hotels and airlines, and concierge service. For example, there are a line of hotels that you can get an upgrade for as soon as you check in. The centurion resorts are very nice too. For flying I know there's the Delta Skymiles Platinum Medallion, and then there's the Boingo preferred plan, which gives you free wifi at various airports. And then of course there's the centurion lounge. There are numerous other "luxury lifestyle" perks.

I hardly use any of the perks. I haven't even traveled since August last year.

I was just kidding, I don't have one. A friend had one at one time, but he cut back on travel after selling his company and did away with it because of the annual fee. I think he said the annual fee was around $3000. And that was after an initial set up fee of around $5000.

The biggest perk he said he used was free companion travel. Cardholders had a special concierge number they could call for all travel arrangements, and on any flight booked, their travel companion flew for free. He took his wife with him on almost all of his business trips. He said the card pretty much got him on any flight he wanted, and a room at any hotel within a certain chain. I think he said Hyatt.

The concierge service is fantastic, one of the best parts of having the card.

Not much different from AmEx plat AFAIK.

Also AmEx plat has companion free tickets when you fly full fare J and F too. Which is stupid to do unless someone else is footing the bill. You can get the same ticket for about a 3rd the price a lot of times, so you could just pay for 2 tickets instead of buying full fare.
