Anyone on here have any experience tutoring?

I am pretty good at math, have an engineering degree, and am looking for a little side hustle. Would probably just meet at the local library. What would be the going rate for a high school Calc and Algebra tutor?

$25/hour?

I did $25 per hour for algebra and geometry but that was over 10 years ago.

My wife is a teacher with a masters degree and she charges $35/hr for elementary and always has more requests than she can handle.

Thanks for input guys

Where do you meet? I can do calculus, pretty well but would need to study up.

Is there much demand for algebra and geometry?

Depends on the area and how good at it you actually are. Not everyone who can do a thing has a gift for explaining it.

All math is in demand, I do it after school in my classroom. Sometimes middle school students come during my planning and sometimes I do it after school from 4-5 in the cafeteria.

Out of curiosity, is her clientele the kid who is making C's and family wants to bump it up to A's/B's, or the Indian kid whose parents want to push them?

It's a bit of both. She also has a kid with a diagnosed learning disability whose parents don't want him to fall behind.

Most of the businesses around here charge $40-45 so you could be in the $30 range as an independent and do well.
