Whether the government of Iraq that backs the dinar can deliver on that promise is the question. If someone else (say, ISIS) takes over and declares the dinar worthless then you are fricked.

I agree , there central bank doesnt have that power . Iraq is building and billions of barrels of oil have been found on top of what they have now . There economy will be back . So would it be logical to assume there currency will stay .0001220 to 1 USD forever ? It wasn't before we fricked them up ...

I think it's a waste of money.

Think of it as a lottery ticket. Nothing more.
May turn into a winner, but more than likely will be worthless.

Exactly my thoughts ... but you can't win the game if you don't play ..

Why ask a question here if you already have your mind made up in something?

the dinar is like one of those penny stocks that gets down to .01 and everyone says you have to buy it bc it can't go any lower and then 6 months later its .005 and you're down 50%

Iraq is more likely to drop the Dinar entirely that spend the money required to enrich foreign currency speculators.
The Dinar was a fools play from the beginning and nothing has changed, Baghdad Bob does thank you for helping keep it afloat a while longer though.
I would suggest you store your Dinars next to your collection of Zimbabwean Dollars and Equadorean Sucres to keep them safe.
Both of these serve as modern examples of "it has to go up", the Venezuelan Bolivar is next and they are miles ahead of Iraq.

It sounds like you have your mind made up.
I never play games with my money and people here are advising you not too either. If you keep chasing these get rich quick investments with no real research, you will end up worse off than you started.
There is a reason you don't see wealthy people spending $100/week on scratch offs and powerball tickets

Why do people only want to invest in Iraqi dinar and not other foreign currencies?
