Thinking about buying a truck soon.

I will have to buy some sort of vehicle in about two weeks. I would like a truck but it seems the discount off of MSRP varies greatly. The last car I bought was below trucar. Right now they seem to be advertising trucks under the trucar price. My wife works at Exxon so we receive the partner discount. What price should I honestly shoot for a GMC 1500 crew cab Slt with leather or a ford f150 lariat crew cab with the same options.

2015s are starting to hit the lots, keep that in mind.
Seems like around 10K off sticker is what you can shoot for. They won't do that on a 2015, though.

i'd say 10-12K off MSRP on this model
the 2015 fords are still a few months away, but they should still be trying to aggressively move the 2014
hell, you may even find a leftover 2013 or two
discounts on the gmc/chevy trucks aren't quite as high considering the body style is still considered pretty new
also...don't let an absence of leather turn you off from a great deal
aftermarket leather (which is typically higher quality than the factory stuff) can be installed for 800-1000

Depending on packages of course.

The sticker on the Slt I wanted was 48,270. From the pic I took I see it has about 6k in options. But I can't see much else from the picture.

You can go online with the code she gets for the supplier discount and get a feel for how much it will be with the discount. I get that discount too but got a much better deal without it. Don't just walk in and tell them you have that discount available. I bought a 2013 Sierra SLE a year ago and the discount couldn't touch what I paid. I found an internet special at Ross Downing for $25,998 and I got them down another $500. The sticker was $38,790 minus a $2,000 regional discount. I paid well below invoice.
I just looked up the pricing you would get for a 2014 Sierra SLT with the supplier discount. MSRP is $42,995 and supplier discounted price is $40,225 plus a current rebate of $750 which puts it at $39,475. So, try to do better on your own before using the discount. You can combine it with some discounts so let them give you those discounts before you mention it. Good luck.

I like for but that F 150 rides like a mule wagon. Ram 1500 big horn crew cab at sterling in Opelousas. was 29k the other day. Sticker is 42k. Add leather for $1,000. Call Hal. He is the man.
