Let the trading begin

Apple logs fiscal Q1 profits of $3.06 a share, zooming by views of $2.61. Sales of $74.6B easily beat estimates of $67.5B

set a record for the highest ever net income for ANY US corporation with $18.0 billion.

Tim Cook "on average we sold 34K iPhones every hour, 24 hours a day, everyday of the quarter".
Not bad

GO APPL GO
I've got WAY too much in this stock, but it's been so good to me I don't want to sell....
though now could be a pretty good time
what is everyone else doing? hold, sell, or buy more?
and what will it do in the morning?
still time to sell in after hours trading, don't see how it will pop even more tomorrow, but since the market tanked so badly today, if it comes back in the morning, we could see even more upward movement since we've really only picked back up what was lost in the last couple days

My plan is to sell around the 125-130 area and then catch it on the next major dip. Apple Watch is just too iffy to me.
Now...let's see if I can stick to that plan

I would expect some profit taking in the coming days. It is highly unlikely that ? could repeat Q4 2014 earnings. And there will be uncertainty with the apple watch launch. Significant support at 100.
I expect the apple watch launch to be huge. The health app market will be enormous. The FDA tipped its hand this week with approval of DXCM secondary display concept. It shows a willingness for much less scrutiny in secondary or relay device application approval. Plus, the fanboy demand will be unprecedented.

My same plan...
Love the after hours though! I hadn't looked at that yet and only saw the 3.5% drop today. A 6+% increase later and I'm still looooong Apple

What an unbelievable company. I, like many others, was inclined to believe they were going to eventually fade due to serious competitive pressure from Android devices and a lack of differentiation. Seems like they have insane staying power with American consumers. I personally hate their products but am still in awe.

One thing I would mention is that inherently there is generally no chance a company like AAPL is going to have higher earnings in CYQ1 than CYQ4 from the previous year. This applies to most retail oriented companies due to seasonality.
The market knows that, it's just a question of whether or not they beat Q1expectations or signal other bullish developments.

"Apple's (AAPL) revenue for Greater China, which includes mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, grew by 70% in the most recent quarter from a year earlier , more than triple the growth rate in the Americas and Europe.
That's largely due to consumers in mainland China clamoring for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, said Nicole Peng, China research director of market research firm Canalys. According to Canalys, Apple(AAPL) outsold all other smartphone makers in China by units shipped in the fourth quarter for the first time in history -- no small feat in a country where local vendors like Xiaomi sell comparable devices for less than half the cost."

I mean I could see "am underwhelmed by" or even "not that impressed by", but hate?

I recently switched to an iPhone 6+ after being an android user for years (most recently Galaxy s4) and its downright comical how much nicer the same app is on iOS than android, it's like the android version was an afterthought for the developers. I purchased a MacBook pro a few years ago, and have since added a Mac mini as well, and haven't used windows operating system since, despite practically being raised on it. Apple makes their products simple, intuitive and downright pretty, and that's why your average consumer loves them.
I also purchased 25 shares a few years ago at $420 so I am pretty thrilled with their success.

I'm not that tech savvy, but I really just don't care for the interface on the Mac and prefer the customization available in an Android device.

Do yall think AAPL will get back to 300-400 a share long term? Say 5-10 years
Posted on 2/17/15 at 10:01 am to windshieldman
300 a share would be nuts
