Is there a thread detailing or explaining common tax forms?

I pretty much have a W-2, Student loan interest deduction, and goodwill donations.... I paid HR block last year and was charged $130

Use TurboTax... It's cheap and pretty foolproof

I'm not sure where/why you paid HR Block $130.

My work offers the $35 HR Block Deluxe option for free but I believe there is a free option as well as an option for $25 that allows you to save/import your tax information from years past.

$130 seems too high for any online service for someone who only has the 3 simple items you listed.

ETA: If HR Block was not offered to me for free then I might pursue other online options, Turbo Tax for example.

Dude, do it for free on HRblock.com. I have the same income, student loans as you mentioned. It is super easy.

By February the Deluxe with State can be found on sale for about twenty bucks. I've been using it for the past six years and have no complaints.

TurboTax is easy and idiot proof. Federal return is like $28. I think State of LA return is $36 on there too if you need it. My return on there was accepted within 48 hours of submitting it online and I should have the funds direct deposited within the next few days.

I wouldn't go that far, but for simple returns it's pretty easy to use.

TaxAct is $29 for Federal and State all-in. Go for TaxAct.

TurboTax if you don't have an HSA account. Free in that case.

Just read the instructions on the 1040. It will tell you where to put everything.

If goodwill donations are all you have, then you don't have a enough to itemize and you can just take the standard deduction. You just need to put your W-2 income in the box, your student loan interest in the box, then follow the instructions. Easy as 1, 2, free.
