also, sort of fun story, for me at least.
bought 250 shares of CENX in 2011 around $14. metals were struggling and i thought it was time to capitalize. well that never panned out and i rode it all the way down in the low single digits for years. never sold a share, just held knowing it would come back eventually. and man am i happy i did. up substantially now, and its not necessarily the gains making me happy, just seeing it succeed after all this time.
i was happy when it got back to $14, almost sold then. glad i didn't.
anyway, just a fun story about a stock.

Now in NKE despite all you haters.
Seriously, huge growth ahead. It's fairly valued IMO.

It's a beautiful day folks. Everyone gets a second chance to get into or average down on big oil.
Also, oils ETFs are screaming to be bought (OIL, USO, DBO)
...but where's the bottom?? No one knows.

RYE is at a 52 week low

Agreed the take down in some of the oil stocks is insane. I'm going with tinfoil time and some govt conspiracy is going on with the price of oil decline. I like PAGP and NGLS

I probably need to stop reading r/investing.

Cliffs as to what r/investing has said to change your tune?

On reddit there are a variety of views about oil. Some think that we'll become less dependent on it sooner for two different reasons.
1)Clean energy become the norm instead of the alternative.
2)Increased Energy production leading to cheaper prices and complete energy independence in the US.

HAL is below $39...It was $55 just THREE weeks ago!
Edit: Unrelated to oil, Scotiabank/Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) is ripe. I've been watching this one for 6 months.
It's down to $55 (one dollar from 52 week low.
P/E of 11 and a div yield of 4.10%

There are so many losers today that I'm dumbfounded as to which company is the juiciest for a long term position.
Posted on 12/8/14 at 2:13 pm to LSUneaux
I think we can wait even further on big oil.
BNS is solid long term, but I choose to buy EWC instead...an ETF that includes all five major Canadian banks, but also a LOT of energy. So I'll wait a bit to buy more of that one too.

I need to stop reading this board...I really need to have all of my excess cash saving up for the new house, not buying more stocks

At least with a house you can live in your investment and still make money on it.
