Sale should happen within a few months. Anyone have any idea who the buyer is?

Not getting rid of everything that falls under Sperry. Think mud logging isn't going anywhere. But everything else will just be taken over by what Baker had.

Are Baker's L/MWD and directional units significantly better than Sperry? Anyone has insight as to why they would sell off Sperry rather than the Baker equivalent?

Market share. Halliburton has plenty of products that they have been willing to stand behind and say that they are just as good or better than competitors, but sometimes the product has grown roots and has a stranglehold on the market. Not going to give that up. Waiting to see what else that is going to affect.

Yes, and not even close. Speaking in the onshore world, sperry LWD and directional tools suck. Pathfinder, WFD, and Baker are tops in this market. As for directional drilling, a lot depends on the driller in my opinion, but I have seen good and bad from all.
