I've got a jewelry policy through my homeowner's ... I think it's less than $200 for close to $18,000 (several pieces). We've got it through Farm Bureau.

One of the reasons I went with an independent policy was because the jewelry is handled and worn all the time and has a greater chance of getting loss, damaged or misplaced. A claim is not going to go against your homeowner’s policy and cost you more money on increased premiums.

Wrong it is not an investment. A diamond has no real value. There are millions of them sitting in vaults all over the world.

Furthermore, unless things get really bad you are NEVER going to turn that "investment" liquid.

Do you insure other gifts you give your wife or children? (Rhetorical)

i have a personal articles policy through state farm

6000 in coverage for like 5 or 6 bucks per month added to my bill

my stepmom had the same policy on the appraised value of her ring, which was about double what they paid for it

she lost the diamond out of the ring and was able to upsize because of the pay out

*hint hint

By this logic, basically nothing qualifies as an investment.

empty homes, unsold property.

To the OP, get a personal articles policy, costs pennies. And take your real jewelry and watches in to get serviced occasionally..checking settings and clasps, etc.

I don't routinely give my wife/kids gifts of that value. But when I do (cars, jewelry, etc), I get it insured in case something happens.
