Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to buying windows at Lowe's or other home improvement store? Looking to save a few dollars on a fixer-upper.

What do they cost at Lowe's?

Some will hate on Window World, but they redid all of mine (10) for somewhere around $2800 I believe. That was with whatever energy savings crap they come with. I got either a tax deduction or credit with that also. The salesmen came and measured and like 2 months later someone came and did them all in one day while I was at work.

Parent had window world come in and replace all wooden windows with vinyl. Haven't had a lick of trouble and saved a butt load. That was 8 yrs ago. Plus they are basically maintainence free. They don't look as good as wooden ones, but who cares.

Looking at about $130/window without installation (8 windows). Lowes charges $99 per unit, I'm not sure if unit means window or dwelling. So roughly $1040+ installation is what I'm looking at v
