Soooo.... What do you connect the positive wire to?

The current collector, like any battery.

quote:

Rather than including a conventional anode electrode made of graphite or silicon, only a porous separator sits between the electrolyte and current collector when the cell is produced at the factory. As the cell charges for the first time, lithium-metal ions are actively deposited onto the current collector, which acts as the anode from then onward.

Toyota just announced their solid state battery plans.

745 mile range and only a 10 minute charge time. They expect to start mass production in 2027.

Yup. Competition is out there.

However, QS expects to start mass production in 2024/2025 in VW/audi cars.

What if you could buy a 50k car (model 3) and not ever pay for gas again or any maintenance other than tires?

That's extremely disingenuous and not just for the maintenance as other have pointed out. While Tesla Superchargers may be free for Teslas for now, charging is not exactly free, and it's getting more and more expensive at other charging stations every quarter. It's a shock to people, but charging at home does, actually raise your electricity bill.

People think they get to drive "for free", but at best they are driving at a 50 or 60% discount compared to ICE

If you think a short attack is the reason its this low then I have oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you. All SPACs/IPOs are a liquidity event for insiders to sell into. New investors are left holding the bag and sell over time. After the honeymoon period ends when it’s back to low single digits the street comes in, absorbs the float then runs the price up with short dated OTM calls causing a backside squeeze. RIVN is a textbook example. Yes it’s a good time to go long, but wait for the backside squeeze to cool off before joining.

think EVs are going to be bricks after 10 or 15 years unless aftermarket companies can work on batteries and electronics

If you keep an IVE vehicle for 15 years you'll drop a fortune on repairs and maintenance and it will be worth next to nothing compared to what you paid for it. You might think you have a point here but you don't.

Only know of Quantum casually, but takes me back to the AONE stock (A123 company) days. Lost a fair amount of money on that company. The battery companies are definitely a risk/reward thing. Somebody is going to be a big winner.

Not sure how long it will last but QS opened at $10.43 today. Up around 35% from the OP. The EV market has been hot the last week or so. Doesn't seem like any sort of news from QS itself. They are, however, posting many new job listings.

Not long….looks like it got up to $13 in July and has crashed to $6.80ish range in mid august with a large public offering to purchase new shares to raise some revenue. Most expecting it to drop back into the $5s most likely.

What use is a link from 2021 in this discussion? There's plenty of flack out there over their most recent offering.

If you want to go off a 2 year old article about QS being vaporware that's on you.

This company will sit in this range until they get closer to mass production. It is a long gamble.

As far as their recent dilution, I'm as disappointed as anyone and won't be putting anymore in for the foreseeable future.

I’m not following them but why are investors that upset? They needed to raise money, they have 0 revenue and are spending what looks like $400 mil a year? How else do they pay their bills?

It's the way the market always reacts to dilution. Simple economics. The devil is in the details. If they needed the capital to buy equipment and build out a plant for mass production, that's one thing. If they need it just for burn, that's something else. Unfortunately, with shareholder lawsuit-driven disclosure practices being what they are, we won't know which it is for sometime.

For anyone still following after their dilution a few months ago, QS up 50% today on news. VW testing their most recent battery samples.
