FYI-I sold a 2008 double cab sr5 prerunner 2 weeks ago with 88k miles for 16,500 pretty quickly and easily-dont sell yourself short
That doesn't surprise me. When I look at the blue book value on it, it ranges from $12k to $16.5k
Then I go online and see similar trucks with almost double the mileage being sold for $20k+
I was going to just go the trade route to avoid the hassle, but if I can get a good amount for it, I may try to go private sale.

Will Cover-my son lives in the Dallas area and is looking for an automobile-probably a Camry or Accord. He's not a "car" guy and just wants a reliable vehicle.
He'll have about $16,000-$18,000 to spend on the car which includes down payment and loan. 2014 and 2015 Camrys with 15-20,000 miles seem to be in this price range.
1. What dealers in D/FW do you recommend he visit?
2. Most of the info in here seems focused on new cars-what's the best way to gather information on negotiating for a used car?
Thanks in advance for your help...

Brand new Hyundai Elantra 4doors can be found for ~$16-17k. Not as big as a Camry/Accord but great warranty, reliable and good gas mileage.
My brother got one out of college in 2008 and has had no troubles with it. No desire to trade it in either

I can't really answer that as I have not shopped the Dallas market place. I travel to Dallas all the time, however I live in Louisiana.

Try to get your hands (providing you know someone in the industry) on the black book value of used vehicle. Also, know how long that vehicle has been sitting on the lot. Whatever price is given to you as a concession, simply reply by saying "that's not good enough" or "that's a good start." And keep going. Silence is golden. Never agree to anything when you're emotional. You have the power, remember that. Always know you can walk away.

Just got nearly $11000 off MSRP (almost $6000 off Invoice) thanks to you and this method.

it prevents them from "losing" it and keeping you at the stealership longer.

I got $11,500 off mine, but no liner and no tint. Glad to see that I did well.

Yeah mine was probably in the arena of 11,500 in total value if you include the tint/bed liner.
Well done by the way. The dealer was glad to see me get the hell out of there after beating them up.

Just wanted to come post that I just bought a 2016 4Runner sr5 premium using the Will Cover method, and saved 5k thanks to this board. I was in and out of the dealership within a couple hours and it was painless for the most part. thanks Will i'd like to buy you a round.

How likely is a car dealership going to let you use a credit card for down payment?

Most dealerships have a dollar limit on the amount they'll allow you to charge as a downpayment. I did this about a year ago to collect airline miles, and the dealership limited me to $3K; I paid the rest of the amount in cash.

Are you in Baton Rouge? If so, I have a friend that works at the dealership that I can put you in touch with (providing you are not already working with someone).
If I was the friend you're referring to, I would be insulted as a salesperson that you tell people to beat me up on negotiations and tell me that I'm not allowed to get paid for my work.

If I am looking at a new 2016 highlander for $41,000.00... what would be the ball park range to get the price down to?
Is it possible to get $10,000.00 knocked off?
