So, I'm moving back to the baton rouge area, and I know this is a terrible time to be moving back. Anyways, I'm searching for rentals and have pretty much come up dry for rentals in my price range. Does anyone have any advice on where to turn? I found ONE that is off of Gardere, on Ned Ave. A quick google search makes it appear that this is NOT somewhere I would want to live, but it is the only thing I have found. Does anyone have any input on that area?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations, that would be great. Employer is bringing me back to BR to corporate. Should I ask for a raise for the time being? I just dont know what to do. Is it legitimate to say that I can't find anything that is not 30% or less of my net income? I can afford more than that, but I'd be living like hell, and not saving much.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ned Ave is definitely a nope. I'd avoid anywhere off of Gardere along the stretch south of Burbank.

600 for rent, not including utilities/extras. I realize this is cheap, but I'm trying not to dip into savings while I'm at corporate and do not get paid much.

Appreciate it, I'll go ahead and turn that one down.

If you're living alone, expect to pay 700 AT LEAST, more like 800. With a roommate 600 is very doable.

Try realtor.com Definitely check with the board before you rent because at your price point, you will be directed to areas that are not really safe.

Have you checked somewhere like Craigslist for someone renting out a room or something? Not ideal, but that's what I had to do during a period where I wasn't making much. Turned out okay as the owner of the home traveled for work and wasn't there much during the week. She also had a boyfriend and spent most of her weekends at his place.

you need to call all of the new complexes around LSU. They were having trouble filling individual rooms because everyone looking right now is renting for more than just 1.

I know for a fact the new Arlington Cottages still had a couple 1 person rooms available as of last week. granted you would be living with a couple of college kids but if your under 30 and this is for work who cares, it would be the cheapest place you can find.

not to mention 2 of the rooms left were in 4 bedroom condos, the other 3 roommates in each Condo were good looking females.

You aren't going to be living in a nice area for $600
