Thinking about putting on a Straddle trade. Anyone agree or disagree?

I've found a guy on another message board who is wrong at least 95% of the time on his trading picks. He says to short/buy puts on NFLX.

So I'm expecting them to beat earnings.

And no, I'm not giving his username or what message board he's on because he's a goldmine for me.

I already have a position in it but I like to trade around it. Might have to buy some calls on this info.

He also bought SPY puts the Monday after the Brexit vote, so I credit him for the recovery and the new all time highs.

Why?

BTD, I know, but curious if any other reason specifically. Way overvalued IMO. One trick pony that is appearing to plateau.

Well, this is honestly the second time I've seen that guy be right. Fine by me. He needs to have at least a little money in his account to keep making bad trades.

It has done this the past 2 quarters. They have been great buying opportunities for someone like myself that is more of a swing trader/investor. I can take an $84 stock and probably ride it to $95-$100 in a few months.

Yeah, they do usually bounce back pretty aggressively.

I'm not touching on the heels of this (unjustified) bull run though.

Good luck.

Different plays honestly. Hulu tends to focus more on episodes of currently airing shows the day after, whereas Netflix is more entire seasons of a show at once and holds onto them for awhile. also movies.

I'm long nflx, believe in the company. They are having some growing pains right now but I think once the Disney contract kicks in later this year, stock will keep going up

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I'll take a shot... Hulu is basically owned by the networks right?

So, they have all the cards. They can price Netflix out of content, they can add more than just the current season of tv shows and basically put Netflix on an island, producing their own content. At that point, they just won't be able to compete. Idk, but that's the way I see it. Netflix holds no cards in any agreement. And they offer nothing proprietary.

Essentially their service has been commoditized by Hulu, HBO go, stars on the go, or what have you. They're toast.

Disagree Netflix has been creating original content for a bit now and some shows are highly popular.

I know they have. That's why I brought it up.
