Make a move on META?

Meta was nearly Trillion Dollar company at one point, sitting at a 300B Market Cap currently.
What does Money Talk think about scooping up around 100 shares to hold until retirement in a ROTH. Investment horizon 28+ years.
Anyone have experience with moved like this in the pst buying companies such as Apple before they became a T dollar company and are satisfied with the results?

I think it depends on their ability to continue to buy things (like when they purchased instagram) to keep growing their audience from the younger demographic. Right now, FB itself is considered an old person's social media. Meta/VR has flopped in terms of the amount they've sunk into it, which has been detrimental for them. (good for you if you wanna buy stock cheaper) FB relies on their monopoly and buying power to eliminate future competition.
Idk anything about advice for buying stocks but that's just my $0.02 in terms of their future as one of the social media giants.

Insta is trending to the "old-ish"crowd too.

To me, it really depends on how pigheaded Zuck is on his VR Metaverse. I suspect that he saw it at some convention and thought it was really cool, bought Oculus and poured 10 billion into it. It is a combination of arrogance and ignorance.
I've done a good bit of stereoscopic work and some VR too. The fundamental problem is that focusing on two little screens an inch or two from your eyes very quickly causes eye strain and headaches for most people. Short of a brain implant or projection directly into the brain itself, there is no way around that.
I also note that their graphics is awful in this day and age where the average game is 3D and often photorealistic.

No telling where an individual stock is going in this market right now. I've switched to just buying indexes. Up 10%, then down 15% on individual stocks. No thanks

Over a quarter century from now, when Zuckerberg will be in his mid 60s? That’s anybody’s wild guess.
The only thing for certain is that the technology in place by then will be wildly different than what we’re seeing now.

I think META will be up big this year. There is no reason you have to told it 28 years in a Roth.

Until META stops dumping all of it's money into the advertisement dystopian that is their implementation of the metaverse I would stay far away. They have spent billions and still basically have no users, because they are not building a platform that users want to use.
During the last round of layoffs the cuts started coming for the Reality Labs division. I would wait till they write the whole thing down as a failure.

Where does Facebook grow? They've maxed out their growth in terms of number of users, Facebook is becoming increasingly more the place for older generations to connect.
Gen Z is into tiktok and snapchat.

Facebook marketplace sales increased from 26 billion to 28 billion from 2021-2022.
There is still big opportunity there as no other "big" social media app really has that built in.

In January 2009, I purchased $150,000ish of QQQ or the equivalent of 5000 shares in the neighborhood of $30. This was another time the world was coming to an end and all "rational professionals" were screaming that this was a horrible time to own stocks. Very glad I did not follow their advice.
Buying quality that has had the crap kicked out of it provides you the opportunity to quit working for a living, and work at what you want to, a whole lot faster than 28 years.

Sounds like David Tepper model. Agree and it’s how you end up with the Panthers.
BAC at $5 in 2008 and FCX at under $2 in early 2010s were the type of opportunities you can occasionally find if diligent.
There are several in the semis right now that will be 3-6 baggers next decade.

Big day for META. I am basically alone in this thread, but I think META is going to be up big this year.

I need some new Pirellis for the car before track days start. So I appreciate Markie Mark paying for them with this basket of short 1/3 puts. Still don’t like him, but thanks anyway.

You’re not alone, I’ve posted a couple times very favorably of meta somewhere on this board before. Give me undervalued cash cow businesses with no debt that touch 20% of the planet with baked in future tech lottery tickets (metaverse) all day. I know advertising is hurting, I also know it’s not going away, and there’s only a handful of companies that can touch literally billions. I’ll keep buying

Pinterest can give them a run. My daughters use it, my wife, mom and grandmother. Hell, I do to. Just sayin'.
