Winchester, you put it well when you said the assignment instructions seem like a long run-on sentence.

I also agree with the other comments that online MBA programs for professionals would take holiday schedules into consideration. Give us this level of work on a non-holiday week.

This is graduate school so I won't whine too much. Just asking for a little consideration.

And thanks everyone for their feedback and information about all the courses. Its helps us newer guys a lot. With that, I'm lining up my schedule for next year and am wondering if Meeks teaches MADM 720. If you have taken it with Mabry how was the class as far as difficulty and workload?

Also. I'm dreading ISDS 702 and may be taking that during AP2. Any insight into that class would be greatly appreciated.

Winchester, I'm interested in answers to your questions as well. The Org Behavior class MADM 701 is only my 2nd class in the program. The first class I took was MKT 701.

Yeah MADM 701 is my first from the core classes. How was MKT 701? I've hard that James is tough.

I though Dr. James was good. I like her. There are two papers you need to write. One of them is a marketing plan. But she gives you a VERY detailed outline and holds your hand A LOT through the process. If you pace yourself and write a little of the papers each week it's not so bad. The weekly quizzes are easy. It's simply writing the two papers that is the focus. Each paper is supposed to be minimum 10 pages - but that's double spaced. My reply to MADM 701's discussion questions two weeks ago was 9 pages double spaced (2,300 words). So it's really not that bad.

I love marketing so that made it interesting for me.

First class I'm taking next year is FIN 701 with Vines. I hear many great things about him.

He's good. 4 total tests each at 25 points. That's all he asks of you. I made a B.

Do you know if Vines teaches any other classes besides FIN 701?

I had Vines for FIN 730 and am taking him again during Spring AP1 for FIN 701.

So how was Vines for FIN 730? How intense was the class? How time consuming? How much homework? Thanks for any feedback.

It is awesome that you are taking FIN 701 with Vines. I wish I had known because I am ruining my GPA taking FIN 701 with Hsieh. I am so disappointed that I didn't find out about Vines and drop the class without penalty. Paying twice will hurt, as well!

So sorry Liz1977. It shouldn't be that way -- that one professor is so much tougher when teaching the same class.
In the big scheme of things the blessing is that our tuition is so low compared to other schools. So the financial cost will be less than what it could have been.

Paul, that's good info to know. I noticed the cost for Spring 2017 has gone up to $1,187 per class. I only paid $1,122 for my first 2 classes this fall.

Do you know how far ahead they let you pay tuition? I'd consider paying for the entire program now if I knew I could lock in the current tuition rate and avoid future increases.

I guess it doesn't surprise me that they're raising tuition. LSUS is one of the very lowest so even by raising it they are still so much less than 98% of other schools.

That is true and I am trying to look at it that way. Students in this class are very upset about his rigidness and grading. Today I completed the third module tests and I will not be able to pass this class because of my scores. This is the first college class I have ever failed. Ugh! Anyway, is it better to withdraw or wait it out and take the grade? At this point, I don't want to stress myself with module 4 but I don't know if a grade of D or F would make a difference. I will be put on academic probation for anything under a C. Advise, anyone? By the way, Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Ugh. I'm finally done with our Module 5 assignment in MADM 701. That was a lot of questions to answer!!!

socal you are right. Answering all of those questions was a lot of writing. To top it off as soon as I finished I received an email from my teaching assistant telling us that some of the writing assignments have been sub-par. Ive received pretty good grades on all of my writings but now I'm going to go back to make sure my module 5 writings are tight. Really the workload for his class is not that time consuming or difficult but I'm now paranoid that I didn't answer one of the 20 questions specifically enough because of that email.

Liz, sorry to hear about your situation. Im sure it is very frustrating. IMO I would withdraw from the class. The way I see it you will have to pay for the class again regardless if you withdrawal or get take a failing grade. So I would rather pay for it again without it negatively affecting my GPA. If you wait and take the failing grade you will take the hit twice by having to re-take the class (and repay) and then again by being on an academic probation from the failed grade. Drop with a W now if you still can, re-gestister with Vines, consider not having to finish the class as an extended break from school and come back in January focused with an unaffected GPA.

I agree with Winchester's advice. I see no upside in taking an F. Drop now and take the W.
