there really isn't. Dice.com is ok, but there are so many networks to look at.

If you want to check oneplace, indeed might be your best bet as it its a meta job search filter.

LinkedIn jobs and zip recruiter are great options. I have friends who have had great success with each.

North Texas. My field is health care. Inquiry was my idea, on behalf of our son, who is currently in Qatar working for a multi-national. He is a veteran, USAF, currently in support role of the military. Is taking advantage of the GI bill and is also securing IT certifications. His Stateside residence is Wichita Falls but is very comfortable locating where the need presents (has been pretty much his life, being on the move, for the past ten years). I am biased, no doubt, but he will make someone a very fine hand. His current role involves munitions, coordination and distribution throughout the ME, and has developed software in his capacity.

Kind of a blind alley for me and Wichita Falls is such a small market...hence, my initial inquiry.

Thank you for asking. That by itself means a lot.

LinkedIn and Indeed are probably the best two places to look for jobs right now. I would have him start there. He should for sure get a LinkedIn profile and build his resume out on it.

As far as where to look, definitely tell him to look in Dallas. No shortage of IT jobs there right now. I would also recommend beefing up his resume with every hardware, software, language and development tool that he's used. That's what recruiters search for so if he does that they will eventually find him.

Also, once he's identified the cities he wants to look at, have him identify the top companies he would want to work for if he had his choice. Pick those companies and then go to LinkedIn and search for recruiters from that company. Reach out to the recruiter and see if they would be open to an introductory conversation. It's so easy to get buried in an applicant queue, especially with entry level jobs, that sometimes that personal conversation or outreach will get your resume bumped to the top of the pile. Especially when it comes to military resumes. It's a lot easier to verbally explain how their job converts to the civilian world than putting it in a 1-2 page resume wth military teminology.

Thank you for the suggestions/details and will pass along to him.

This is such a blind alley for me as the IT industry for me is as an end user. However, I do know smart, gifted people when I see them and he is one of them....just has to get a shot.

internet is the tits.
Dice
you put in your location and say how far you want the net to go.

the federal jobs won't be in Dice. USAjobs.com same drill. you search as far as you want or close to home. you too can be a programmer for the CIA/FBI whatever.
