Hey as long as they stop getting enough money to buy huge trucks with ridiculous tires and a lift kit just to put a fog horn on the muffler and some trashy phrase on the back windshield..

Supply
Demand
Volatile career
Vastly over compensated previously
Now jobless

Meanwhile the rest of us poor folk keep on churning and enjoy my $25 fill ups. Also, I'm about to start hitting up used cars for sale.. gonna be some really fricking good deals out there in the next few months.

Cheaper fuel = cheaper diesel = cheaper transportation costs = cheaper EVERYTHING.

Saw $1.79 in BR today, nearly shite my pants. My apologies to Jody, looks like those oilfield wives might have to put up with their husbands at home while the rest of us enjoy $20 tanks of gas.

Companies have been laying off people they wanted gone anyway since it started dropping. I'm sure this was no different.

Scary shite. I work for a smaller service company and we've laid off about 10 field workers over the past couple of weeks. Luckily I have a nest egg saved up. Maybe it's time to start brushing up my résumé just in case.

1. I hate people losing their jobs.
2. People forget just how much 4.00 gas totally fricked our economy and household budgets just a few years ago.
3. No other good or commodity price holds americans by the balls like oil and gas.
4. No other field on the planet VASTLY overpays quite like oil and gas.

So why are these newfound "capitalism, frick yeah", "these are market forces at work; deal with it", and pro-individual profit maximization people many of the same people that complained incessantly over the price of gas, O&G salaries, and "exorbitant" big oil profits for years? These companies' goals are simply the same as Joe 'Murican who is happy to save some cents.

Did he have a take on other services companies such as Halliburton, Weatherford etc.? Did he say when he thinks oil prices will rebound?

Cramer:
It was an op-ed piece for one of the internet news services I was reading. Did not see anything about your questions but in the same website they quoted a middle eastern prince as saying we will NEVER see $100 oil again. At the time, I thought, this prince does not see beyond his nose. I would bet the house oil is over $100 in 50 years. US dollars will be worth 22 cents on todays dollar, then. On the other hand, prince may see solar and wind happening so maybe he is right. US Navy has a gadget producing hydrogen from sea water so the fleet will not have logistics issues with oil/diesel. Its not ready for prime time, but it will be, soon enough. Air travel will be the main transportation using oil in the future.

Oil and gas workers weren't obligated to care when people were suffering with $4 gas. The people benefiting now aren't obligated to care that the oil and gas business is taking a hit.

All of this. I hope people on those volatile fields are careful with their money in the good times, so they can survive the lean times. It's common sense.
