I'm looking for a financial advisor in the Ascesion parish area, the guy I'm currently using is not getting it done. Any help is appreciated. I've done the standard max 401k to company match and have an IRA.

Put your money in an index fund, it'll beat any financial advisor taking money from you.

Generally, a financial advisor is not worth it unless you are having trouble saving or have a high enough income that tax laws start phasing you out of available options.

For general saving, this board is a good enough resource honestly.

For high income or high net worth individuals, FAs can become useful if they are fee based or hourly based.

My 401k balance has not moved in 17 months despite my making contributions bi-weekly. My IRA is barely breaking even for the last 18 months. I know the markets have been not been perfoming so well lately but I should be making some progress over a year and a half. I have made a number of attempts to contact this guy to no avail. He is with Ameriprise and did a good job for the first year(2013) then nothing. I just need solid advice where to invest the 401k and IRA

I am 30 and have about 35% of my IRA in the Vanguard 500 fund. Supposed to mimic the S&P 500. Is that too much weight in that fund or not enough?

I personally like PNQI as my favorite ETF/FUND I like that its all the big tech companies that imo run our future sans apple of course. It has over the past few years and imo will outperform the overall market for the forseeable future
